Questions on Brass Shims - Standard

  • From Justin at 1/30/15 5:48 PM
    • Are these shims able to hold a .355 taper shaft into a .370 parallel hosel without worrying about epoxy compression? I've heard a lot of people say shimming taper into parallel is very risky.

      Thanks,
      Justin
    • Justin,

You have to weigh the risk with epoxying a club with an extra piece involved and not losing sleep that the bond will fail and the clubhead could coming flying off and hitting something or someone. Done correctly, the bond should be not be compromised.

    • Can I shim a SLDR head and not use adjustable ferrule?
    • Ronnie,

No, the adapter is much, much wider than the thickness of the brass shim.

  • From ROBERT BARRETTE at 4/7/16 10:01 AM
    • I have never used a ready made shim, do I epoxy it into the hosel first, then after it sets up epoxy the shaft in place?
      Thanks,
      Bob
    • Bob,

Here is an article on how to use them:

You will epoxy the shim at the same time you do the shaft, otherwise you will never get the shaft to enter if installing that first or trying to complete this in two steps.
