Details

If you are missing fairways off the tee on a regular basis, then the Acer XF Thriver was designed for you. What exactly is a Thriver? If you combine the terms Three Wood + Driver you get Thriver. A 3 wood is more lofted and this cuts down on side spin, plus is shorter to enable you to have more control. On the other hand, a driver is approximately three times the size of a 3 wood which makes it much more forgiving on off-center shots. Plus you have the large confidence building, thin face that produces maximum distance. The Thriver has the best of both worlds when it comes to these two heads.

The Acer XF Thriver is a full 10g more than a normal driver to allow for a shorter, more controllable length that now has the proper amount of weight in your hands. Plus the addition of the supplementary weight produces even greater forgiveness making this the ultimate in control off the tee. Or yet another way think about is this is a fairway seeking demon.

The Acer XF Thriver is the 4th distinctive version to address yet another common challenge that faces golfers today. Thus making the XF line by far the most comprehensive driver line in the golf industry.

Questions on Acer XF Titanium Thriver - Custom Assembled

    Sort by Ascending
    • From Mike at 4/24/14 11:19 PM
      • Why is the Thriver not available for left handed players?
      • Mike,

The Thriver in this model is not available in left hand, but it is in the Acer XS Thriver, which is the newer model.

      • Although I have other drivers (from Hireko as well) I just love the Thriver as it is so straight and consistent.

I am thinking of ordering another Thriver with regular flex as with my current one, but ½ inch more in length using Acer Superleggera, hoping to add maybe 10 more yards.

Will this work? Is there a better (lighter) choice than Superleggera with about the same affordability?

        Thanks.
        Neilo
      • Neilo,

The extra 1/2" in length will offset the lighter shaft to maintain approximately the same swingweight you have now. If you go and hit this combination and it feels too long or too heavy, you can always choke or grip down on the club or re-size and re-grip at a later time. The Superleggera shaft is our house brand which cannot fetch as much money as a branded shaft and the reason why you won't find a similar shaft in the same price range.

      • I purchased several Drivers from Hireko and they are all long except for the XF Thriver that I can only do between 190 and 210, but VERY CONSISTENT AND STRAIGHT! I love it!!! It has a regular flex shaft.

If I change the flex to “senior” and make the length longer by 1-1/2 inches more, will I have much more distance and still be consistent and straight?

        Thanks.
      • Neilo,

The Thriver was designed as a control driver off of the tee - not necessarily for distance. Changing to a softer flex is not going to create more distance. Usually a softer version of the shaft you are using will hit the ball higher and provide a softer feel. Length and weight are contributors to distance. The first thing to look for is a lighter shaft and if you want to make the club a little longer (1/2"), that may help offset the swingweight. Remember, the Thriver is 10g heavier than a standard driver so making it 1.5" longer will feel like a sledgehammer.

      • I have a 10.5 Ping K15 driver stock TFC shaft r-flex cut down to 44". I also have a 16 Ping K15 3W stock TFC shaft r-flex cut down to 42. Reason being I am a 5'5" golfer with slightly long arms and have difficulty at address with standard length and lie.

I'm intrigued by the volume, loft, and weight of the thriver. If this club were to be matched to a ProLaunch 45 and sized to 44" length, what potential benefits would I see vs. my current driver/3W?

      • David,

You would have a lighter overall weight club due to the reduced weight of the shaft. Even though you have a heavier head, potentially you may be able to swing it faster and have more of a sense of weight at the end of the shaft. The Thriver is designed as a tee club only and would not replace a 3 wood off of the deck, but you would have a larger hitting face for more confidence than if you were to tee off with your 3 wood.

    • From Bob McDarby at 6/28/13 5:47 PM
      • Is the Thriver a USGA conforming club?
      • Bob,

It was never submitted to the USGA to obtain a formal ruling, but all the other models in the Acer XF series were submitted and came back as conforming. We would have no reason to believe the XF Thriver wouldn't conform too.
