Acer Mantara Titanium Driver - Custom Assembled:Bold, symmetrical, sleek and powerful are just a few of the names to describe the new Acer Mantara driver. Inspired by the enormous, but graceful manta ray, the clubhead takes on a "square-like" shape. Why? All in an effort to move more weight further from the center of gravity (or out toward the outermost perimeter of the head) creating a slightly high moment of inertia over a traditional shaped driver. In layman's terms it is to provide a straighter, more accurate shot off the tee. The large 460cc volume and multi-sculpted crown and sole will not only catch the eyes of your playing partner's but boost your confidence at address. See first-hand for yourself how the shape of woods in the future can help you play better today. Available RH 10.5 and 12 degrees, LH 10.5 degrees. Conforms with USGA Rules.

Base price assembled with Hireko Shadow Graphite Shaft by Apllo and Karma Black Velvet grip.

The ball now comes off the tee cleanly and goes high, straight and far. I have hit more fairways with this club than i ever hit before. Excellent product, price and service. I ordered this club assembled with a 10.5 head and a graphite shaft with senior flex. I received the club exactly one week later. [...] Not bad. Very impressed with the looks and feel of the club with head cover.Went to driving range with club and was very impressed. First drive long and straight.Had trouble hitting beyond 100 yards with Golfsmith and Wilson drivers. This Mantara hits 125-150 yards without forcing swing or changing anything. A definite winner in my book. The price was very good also. Will consider buying more products from Hireko. I will be changing my hybrids, woods and irons to senior shafts and Hireko will be receiving my business. Thanks for good [...] product and price. You have a satisfied customer.

if I did it over would use a stiffer shaft

I built the 10.5 degree with a Graffaloy Pro Launch shaft (R). I love it. I have more confidence than I've had in a driver since my original Taylormade Burner. I feel very confident about hitting the fairway on all but the narrowest of holes - where I switch to my Mantara fairway wood (5 wood built as a 4 wood). The sound doesn't bother me at all. Since I play with older men, they probably hear it a little! My only thought is invest in a top shaft to maxiimze the result; it doesn't cost that much. I may buy a second one that's 12 degrees. If I can hit the fairway I normally would make a par or bogey, so confidence and accuracy with the driver is worth maybe 10 strokes to my game!

Straighter shots
By hhkanVerified Purchaser from Singapore on 1/17/2009
Pros:
Accurate, Easier to address square
Best Uses:
Off The Tee
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Assembled a 12* head with a Cadence 55 Med Launch shaft and Karma grip. Compared with my old 460cc driver with a traditional shape, less-than-perfect shots curve less, resulting in narrower shot dispersion.

The square head makes it easier for me to tell if my club face is square. This gives me more confidences at address. With the traditional woods, I am often not very sure if I got the face square.

Impact feels a little dead compared to my old driver, as if the club face has less of that tampoline effect and the ball is coming off a less hot. The sound is a little dull--less metalic and more towards a "thud". However, I did not see much difference in distance compared to my old drivers.

Overall, the better accuracy mean that this driver will be staying in my bag for some time.

...Although I only have one hour at the range with it so far, the Mantara is amazing. I am not a long ball hitter, but I saw a dramatic increase in distance from the initial swing. I think I am hitting at least 20yards farther. Very forgiving, yet not fool proof, still managed to bung up a few drives due to poor body mechanics, but dramatic improvements in the distance and direction of my drives!!

I replaced my old driver Acer XP Titanium with the Acer Mantara Titanium Driver, add a 7 wood and a 5 Hybrid iron. Now my shots are not much longer but very straight: I have forgot my slice! Yesterday I ordered also the Mantara woods 3 and 5. Thanks for your help

I got this club a few days ago, and each time I have gone out to play, more of my drives have been straighter and farther than I have ever done consistently. Instead of getting 270 on an all out smash drive, I can hit the ball 300 yards which is great for me. It is a great club for a great price.

Seeing as it is a driver, I use this club off the tee. The first time I used it, I started laughing. STRAIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE OF THE FAIRWAY! The sound that people complain about... I looked at my group after I hit the ball and the people on the tee box beside them were looking at me. I even tried to talk my father into buying it from me so that I could get another one (with more options than the free ones).
Would I suggest it? I have suggested it. (He did not listen and I am still out driving him, and he spent more for his club).

Replaced a well known large head driver - Gets about 8 to 10 yards longer. Mis hits can be ugly but that comes from bad swing.

I found this driver to be very forgiving after hitting about 5 practice shots and teeing the ball higher. I haven't played for about 8 years and after a quick 9 holes I hit 5 fareways and the other 4 were only slightly in the rough. Yeah I suck, but that's pretty good for me. I don't think it's that loud either, but then again I wouldn't give a [*] if it sounded like a cannon as long as I hit it straight.

Hit the ball high and straight. No slices. Reshafted with the Graphite Aldila Driver Shaft to lower the trajectory. Worked out fine, hopefully it will increase distance off the tee.

Good Value

I have read reviews where other guys are knocking this club because of its sound. But I love it, and so do the guys I play with. In fact, they were all so intrigued by its sound and distance that they all asked to hit it, even though it is a left-handed club, and all of them are right handed. I love it.

unbelievable mantara

Pros:
Good Value, High Quality
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

i never would have believed it. got the mantara with cadence 65 shaft (stiff) same day i got a taylor made burner with reax 50 stiff.
took them to the practice range yesterday. no comparison. the mantara was 20 yards longer on the average, and the accuracy wasn't even close. i faded the mantara every time within 10 - 15 yards of target line, whereas with the burner it was fade one time, pull hook the next, slice the next. i have been looking for a driver for years, trying to replace an old acer 2001 graphite head. i found it ... mantara is in the bag to stay !!!!

This club looks hot, hits hot, and is straight hot. It's a unique loud ping that will get everyone's attention. Your straight drives will get everyone's attention, too.

It's just cool and it works.

Acer XP Mantara Titanium Driver - W O W!
By JohnnyVerified Purchaser from Charlotte, NC on 4/10/2007
Pros:
Good Value, Long, Straight
Cons:
Sound
Best Uses:
Drive
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have a 14 handicap and hit this driver longer than any I have ever tried. It's long and straighter but you can still draw it. It sets up to the ball very good for alignment. You cannot beat the value. I actually got a WOW from my foursome when I hit it on the 18th. I normally hit driver and 4-5-6 iron and had a 9 iron to the green.
