Power Play Caiman Hybrid - Custom Assembled:The Power Play Caiman hybrid is a high-performance option to replace those long, hard-to-hit irons in the bag with some of the latest technological know-how. The pull-face construction utilizes an active maraging face insert welded to the 4-31 stainless body to help increase the spring-like effect and further save weight. Additionally, the score lines are CNC milled rather than cast or stamped into the hard S42 face material. A variable crown thickness (as little as 0.5mm) in the non-stress area of the head, which is the thickness of 5 sheets of paper! This concept was utilized to shift needless weight to a more desirable location deep and low within the head to propel the ball high and land soft. Weights and lofts are normalized so they produce repeatable and predictable distances to the same numbered iron. This makes it easier for the average golfer to fill a particular yardage gap without guessing at which loft to purchase.

I bought the 2 and 3 hybrid, mostly because of what I read on the reviews of this club. What stood out, were the ones that said, "this club is heavier...or this club feels like your are hitting a fairway wood." Well, I have to tell you, they are heavier but they feel so smooth and are weighted perfectly.
I love that they feel similar to a steel 3 or 4 iron. I hated my previous hybrids because they were so light...it was like trying to hit with a piece of bamboo. My power play hybrids are easy to control, make a great sound at impact and have good distance.
At a par-3 246 yards, I used my 3 hybrid to hit it 235 with a nice draw and high.
I hit my 2 hybrid about 242 (skylab measured) straight (no draw) and it gives me a little bit more roll...and most importantly it was easy!!! I was consistently getting that kind of distance. Yes, I am a long hitter, but I also have a good swing, so when I say these clubs do what they are supposed to do, well, trust me...they do.

Look, if you have a good swing and you can hit 3 and 4 irons fairly well but want more control, confidence at address, an amazing looking club, that gives good distance...get these hybrids because these hybrids are genius...better than any oem I have hit Nike, Callaway...whatever.

Look is ok.
goes well when hit in the sweet spot, very poor paint finish any contact with another club takes the paint off.
I have played it about three time and looks ten years old.

It only took me one round to find out that these hybrids hit very easily and are very accurate. I got the 4 and 5 and I am going to order the 3 also.

I bought the 4 and 5 with dynamic gold high launch shafts to replace a #3 cleveland hibore xls hybrid (22deg) that I have but needed a #4 and I thought I could save money buying two of these for the price of one cleveland. They feel quite heavy and "clunky" possibly because of the steel shafts instead of graphite. The ball just doesn't launch off the face the way you hope it will. I don't get nearly the same distance and accuracy from these as I did my cleveland. I will say that hireko builds very well, very happy with the appearance and build of these and other clubs I have bought from them, and you can't beat the selection of options and price.

Let's face it, a bad golf shot is a bad golf shot no matter who's club you have in your hand. I hit my long irons fairly well anyway, but I had to try out a hybrid too see what all the hype was about. I chose the 4 because I wasn't afraid to use my 4 iron on the course and I would get to use it more often and give a better test. I built my Caiman with an Aldila Gamer shaft and Winn G8 Rave grip. After having it in my bag for about 4 mos.. I feel comfortable about giving my opinion: I think I will purchase the 3 also! It was just slightly more accutate, forgiving and easier to hit out or trouble than the iron. 99/100ths of your score comes from you, not the equipment, I believe, but even one stroke a game is worthwhile in the long run anyway.

...a little disappointed...

I purchased this club back in December, and I didn't want to make any reviews until I played it at various times on multiple courses.

1.) the Caiman hybrid came with the wrong shaft, the shaft that was ordered was the Power Play 5000 in a "reg" .. instead it came with the TL65 gram Power Play system Q in "reg".

2.) it's a very attractive club, but it's not very forgiving and the distance is less than fantastic .. a minor off-line shot can easily put you 25 yards in the rough - again, "maybe" perhaps this is due to the shaft which plays extremely stiff... these points also mentioned by the 3 other players that had an opportunity to play the club.

I might recommend Hireko to get a better understanding of their shafts ... keep in mind, the the shaft is the engine and the grip is the steering wheel.

This is a well balanced club, and performs well off the fairway or out of the rough. I don't think it's to heavy. Contact is solid and straight.
