Acer XDS Wide Sole Hybrid Iron - Custom Assembled:If you thought hybrids were easy to hit, the much expanded Acer XDS 'Wide Sole' Hybrid design offers you much more than current hybrid design. In fact, the design is based on fairway wood parameters that allow for the super high launch characteristics that make these hybrids easy to play. This set gradually decreases the volume or size of the head as the loft is increased and less help is usually needed. The rearward center-of-gravity of this hybrid design is enhanced by the rails at the soleplate to help you power through the grass and prevent 'digging' at impact for better quality contact with the ball. With its leading edge designed well forward of the hosel, you will be able to create more lift and produce higher launch angle thus more distance! This game- improvement set of hybrids will allow you to hit that high arching shot that you've always dreamed of hitting. Engineered for standard iron lengths, the Acer 'Wide Sole' Hybrid also provides you with additional control and accuracy. I love my Acer irons so I thought this hybrid would be great too, especially with the good reviews. I have tried other hybrids from Cleveland and I do well with them. I was gravely disappointed with the inconsistentcy of my ball striking with the Acer Hybrid. I took the club to an expert golf fitter and he did a flo test. He said the Acer velocity shaft did not have the spine aligned properly (which should be done when the head is attached). The flo test shows it goes in a circle, not back and forth in a straight line when one end is pulled with the grip in a vice. He said it was not worth trying to fix. So, I wasted my money.

Since the club head is larger than the typical hybrid the clubs play more to the wood feel than to the iron. This does take some getting used to but I found that I could get better distance without greater effort. I have hybrids in the 2 to 7 club but I still have my 8,9, and PW irons for better feel around the greens.

I wanted to use hybrids to replace my low irons and FWs. I'd tried Callaway FT-iZs, but had no luck with them.

I figured I'd give these hybrids a try, since they had a rail system that looked intriguing. Plus, the price was unbeatable.

These are great clubs: They are east to hit, are very forgiving, and just feel good and solid. They inspire confidence, which is an important asset for a beginner like me. I wouldn't hesitate to order these clubs again.

My only complaint is that the clubs, despite the graphite shafts, are slightly heavier than other women's hybrids I've tried. But, given that I play better with them, I'm willing to overlook that small con. I think men, especially, will love these clubs.

I built a standard 7 iron club length with a s-300 true temper shaft and Winn grip. I have a problem with a hook. I hit a medium bucket of balls at my local driving range. Almost all my shots were dead straight! I average 148-153 with an caimen 7 iron-Today with the acer I was 10-12 yards longer. I love the way the club feels on contact. The look of the head also inspires confindence! I am ordering a complete set this week!!

not being a very good player yet, these xds hybrids makeup for alot of faults. the price is right and i feel confident when i use them. for a player whose only played for year hireko's a good way to go if you like quality and good prices.

if you wanted hybrids that you could hit off of the deck blindfolded, these qualify as that. Loud but solid impact note, nice feel with the standard steel shaft. Just a tad to big to be sure of hitting off of those wonky uphill lies but still confident enough that it'll make up for it anyway. Will probibly come back for the 2 and the 3 iWoods

Got the Acer XDS wide sole 1 iron hybrid with an Apollo Shadow hybrid graphite shaft in regular flex to compliment my Acer XP 19 and 22 degree hybrids, which also have the same Apollo Shadow hybrid graphite shafts. For some reason, I have trouble hitting a 3 wood, and the 1 iron hybrid is working well for me.

I purchased these to give my son my old mixed set (but very good set) of clubs. On the plus side - these seem to be solid clubs - smooth and are straight and forgiving (no hook or slice) since I have started playing with them (8 rounds now). On the minus side - altho straight (by that I mean no hook/slice) but they always seem to slide off and miss to the right of the green. I also have lost about 1 or 2 clubs of distance vs my old set (my old set 7 iron was 150 yeards - now I have to use a 5 to get there). This may be my selection of flex (senior vs regular for my old set). But ok overall for the price.

Hit my brand name hybrids better than my brand name irons, so I thought I'd gave an all-hybrid set a try. The Acer's have given me very inconsistant performance if not hit absolutely perfectly. Maybe its the absence of grooves on the sweet spot, but the ball seems to "slide" off the club face. Hit a 6-hydrid high, straight and 175 yards; the next one a floater 150 yards and off to the right. Plus, the club faces are all scuffed up after only a few hits at the driving range. The long hybrids seem OK (2,3,4,5) but the short ones seem to spray everywhere.

All I can say is this by far is the easiest hybrid to hit that I have ever played!!! And the straightest without a doubt. I took mine out for the first time last weekend and ended up using it off the tee on all the long holes because I didn't have a decent driver with me (I have a Caiman Driver arriving in a few days that I am pumped for). I only missed about 5 fairways all weekend and was consistently landing within 15 yards of the the guys I was playing with off the tee (both play with name brand, top-line drivers). Any bad shot I had was 110% operator failure. I am now a believer in Acer products. So much so that I just ordered an Acer wedge set (52,56,60) and already can't wait to receive them and put them in my bag. Thanks again for providing people with outstanding, affordable equipment that I feel is as good as if not better than the big names out there in the market.

I cant say enough about these clubs. They are really great. When people think hybrids they say that they are for players who have problems getting the ball in the air, but not me, I have the 1-pw and love them, I use them because they are really really long. 20 yards longer than my iron set. They are really accurate and are very workable. I love these clubs. I have hit all the name brand clubs and these are right up there with them. Great great clubs.

I use the 1 thru the 8 iron/SW. I use the 1 iron off the tee more than the driver. Hit it almost as far. The clubs are much easier to hit the regular irons as they go through the turf much easier making it easier on your body. I love the higher trajectory with no loss of distance. My wife had them before me and thats how i experimented with them before I purchase my own..

I have been playing for 12 years now. I have had a few sets of irons from the beginner's clubs up to a very expensive set and never really had any confidence in them. I use woods 1 thru 9 and then always prayed when I had to get those remaining 10 to 150 yards to the green. Well, no more. These XDS are wonderful! I have sold my expensive irons and now I use my woods and my hybrids and get to the green with less shots and more confidence. I just wish I had these when I started playing. Thanks!

I didn't know what to expect when I ordered these clubs. When I got them and hit them for the first time I was in love with them. When you hit the ball you can barely tell your hitting something. They are extremely accurate and have amazing distance. I bought the 2-8 hybrids and I am planning on getting the 1,9-SW. I hit the 8 hybrid 190 yards and the 2 hybrid 250 yards. Did I mention I am only 16 years old. Great Great clubs
