Acer XDS Cabriolet Iron - Custom Assembled:For over 8 years, golfers world-wide had enjoyed the virtues of the original Acer XDS Wide Sole series iron making them one of Hireko’s best selling and performing irons in company history. Golfers found out first hand what the benefits that a wide sole iron can provide. The Acer XDS Cabriolet takes that same concept and combines it with the modern hybrid. Some hybrids on the market are merely a hollow-bodied iron as a way to move weight further back from the face to create greater forgiveness on off-center shots and the purpose of a wide sole iron is to shift a higher concentration of weight lower to assist in getting the ball up quickly and easily. The Acer XDS Cabriolet does both by starting out with the chassis of a hybrid but removing the heavy crown and relocating that weight to the extra wide sole creating the best of both worlds; an iron look with hybrid accuracy.

The gigantic face will instill confidence for those that need it the most making these the ultimate game improvement iron without the massive offset. Each club in the set required a distinct sole radius to complement the progressive sole width (wider in the longer irons and gradually reducing in size in the scoring irons). This places weight where it is needed most to ensure an ultra-forgiving design that is not only functional, but puts more fun back into the game.

bought the 6 iron and im about to order the rest of the set. easy to swing nice ball flight. the club head is a lil heavy which i like, it just kinda swings itself. its kinda tough to hit a bad shot with the club.

This club is intended for beginner golfers having trouble getting flight out of their ball. This club will remove about 10 yards of distance from your normal club. It could have been used as a decent rescue club, however, the shorter distance was a big downside.

I've never felt comfortable with the hybrid 3 and 4 which came with my set, whether in the fairway or the rough. This is the feel of an iron which I like, and trust to make a good shot every time with the distance I need.

I purchased these clubs as an upgrade and to improve game. They are VERY forgiving, even on missed shots. Low CG helps get the ball up easy. I did upgrade shafts to stiff steel Acculite 85 and new grips because of fast swing and tempo. Note that doing this dramatically increases price. If you think you will like standard grips or low upgrade changes, these are a great value. Also picked 3-5 hybrids with stiff Shadow graphite shafts which hit nicely although I lost a little distance from previous set. Hybrids help fill that gap between 150 and 190 yards which I stuggled with std. irons to hit consistently. Nice set but lost some value with upgrades. Had to upgrade to expensive grips because desired grips not in stock or discontinued. This was disappointing since grip feel and visuals are important to me. Kara was wonderful to work with.

Easiest Sand Wedge to hit ever. (Right Hand Golfers) Just shift your weight 80-90% to your left side, aim one inch behind the ball and swing though without looking where the shot is going. Don't look up until the ball is in flight.

I've been using the original XDS Wide Sole for 7 years but needed a whole new set for a 2d home. I'm amazed at how good these clubs are. Forgiving and accurate...even better than the originals.
