In case you read my good-but-not-great review of the Avatar Pro hybrid, the reason is that I was comparing the Avatar with the Prophet. And the Prophet wins. Solid hits, good trajectory, and no nasty tendencies. Sweet club!
I got the #2,3,4 heads and put them on Graman UL-580 Limey shafts. That's a striking combination that anybody is bound to notice, between the bright lime shaft color and the beautiful carbon crown finish of the heads.
The first time I played them with my regular foursome, I got a lot of flak at the beginning of the round. By the eighth hole, I was getting comments like, "I guess we can expect to see more of those in your bag this year."
When I walk on and am paired up with strangers, I get questions about them. Of course, some of the questions are about where I got such striking clubs -- in both the visual and the golf-ball sense of "striking". Even more of the questions are why I'm not using my driver on some tight par-4 hole. I answer that I want to be sure I have a makable second shot, and I can count on the hybrids for that. When they see where my tee shot winds up, they tend to agree.
I bought the 3,4 & 5 to replace my existing hybrids and what an improvement!
These are the longest hitting, solid, good feeling Hybrids I have ever used!!
My first swing with the #3 was smoked about 210 yds. down the middle!
I built these with Rifle Lite 6.0 shafts (20 and 23 degree). These are easy to hit long and straight. I love the 20 degree of off the tee on short par 4's and anytime I'm within 200-210 on par 5's I feel like I have an excellant chance to be on in two. The 23 degree is awesome for chippng it close from the fringe.
I built the 3 & 5 to replace my 3 & 4 irons and found that they are straighter, easier to hit, have a higher trajectory and are longer than traditional irons. They are in my bag to stay.
I built a Prophet hybrid set (20 and 23 degree). Took the 23 degree Prophet to the range to do a head to head comparrison with a new Orlimar H830 22 degree hybrid - both had similar setups. The Prophet out-distanced the Orlimar by 25 yards on shots where both were hit on the sweet spot - about 10 yards longer on mis-hits. The Prophet hybrid had higher trajectory, longer carry and roll. Even sounded better than the Orlimar - I'm totally amazed!!!
Dynacraft products continue to amaze me. This hybrid is as good as any OEM out there! Easy to hit and great for shot shaping. I built the 4 hybrid on a Cadence Hybrid shaft and it felt good from the first swing. If you don't need an offset and want a great hybrid, spend the extra money on the Prophet. You will not be disappointed.
The two most consistent clubs in my bag are the 23° Dynacraft Genesis Hybrid and the 20° Prophet hybrid. Both clubs have the Apollo Shadow Hybrid shaft. The Prophet club sets up very naturally, pointing directly at the target with no manipulation. There is no visible offset, to this club, contrasting with many of the other hybrid clubs on the market.
Ballflight is high but penetrating, extricating the ball, with ease from all sorts of lies. Though the 20° is a 3-iron replacement, it travels about one club farther, but with spin enough to stop rather quickly on the greens.
I am very glad I built this club. It has taken a scary club out of my bag, and added confidence to my game.
