Comments about Hireko PL9121:Technica SC230 Putter (LH) - Clubhead:
This is a great little head for building a side-saddle putter. While it is not as flat on the bottom as some others, it still makes for a nice smooth repeatable stroke, and I really like the shape, the weight distribution, and alignment line. The only down side is that the finished putter will not stand up on its own, but I have found this head to be very true, and it has a nice consistent feel. I built several side-saddle putters using this little jewel, and I keep one in my game room for constant practice sessions. A side-saddle putter uses a left-handed head with the bend in the shaft bending back toward the center of the club. The shaft is also bent at a slight angle back toward the right hand side to allow a right-handed player to stand beside the ball facing the target. The motion to the hole is the same motion you would use with the right arm tossing a ball. A great way to putt! If you combine this head with a 50" Odyssey replacement shaft (with a double bend, cut down to a total club length of about 43" or so), and then slide on that great little Karma 2 piece putter grip, then you'll have yourself a very nice, reliable, smooth stroking (inexpensive) little side-saddle putter!
