Been golfing for 20 years and building clubs for about 10. You could say I've tried just about EVERY Golfsmith and Golfworks iron components over that time period as well as several others. Never bothered to write a review before but these go me excited so this is my first one. I've always favored forged clubs with a very clean look and little offset. However when the swing gets a little off scores go up. Thought I'd try a "Game improvement" club to eliminate those days. Built these with FST 115 shafts with sensicore inserts. Spined the shafts and trimmed to X flex (plays like an S300 in True Temper language). Super solid. Feels as good as any forged club with the inserts. VERY clean look and the offset won't offend many. Distance is great. Hits the high soft landing straight ball and fade with ease. Draws are a snap too. Fat and thin shots are usually better than expected results. Dont be afraid to try this setup. You can do these easily for less than $20 a stick.

I build as a hobby for myself and some friends. I have had a set of mild game improvement irons for 6 years and decided to experiment with a 9i and pw before a spring golf trip. I have felt I didn't need improvement irons and that I hit my irons quite crisp. Considering a long winter and a lot of rust going into my trip, my wedges and older irons were not too hot. But, these two were fantastic! They felt a little heavy (paired with TTLite xl, stiff shafts). I also noticed almost a full club more length (150 yd PW). Wow are they easy to hit and like a laser to the target. Of the two clubs I only mis-hit one shot for four days at 36 holes/day. I have since placed my order for the whole set and can't wait to get them shafted up. Now we only need the rain to quit...

these club heads are on the heavy side with less loft but hit the ball really high--will reserve judgement on how well they hold greens--sets up great without too much offset and with a fairly thin top line which i like both features -- i have tried many clubs over the last 20 years and have always stuck with my old top flite tour irons--these clubs may finally retire the top flites. Long, accurate, and you can feel the club head throughout your swing. will have to work on my gaps/yardages as these are one club longer than my old top flites. for the money i think these would be hard to beat (esp. if they turn out to be fairly durable).

I currently own the Approach Iron & 8 Iron. I love these clubs. I love how the ball just gets up in the air with these. I am now looking forward to buying the rest of these to make a full set.

looks solid, but too heavy. 5 iron used swing weighted @ D-4 @ 38",44 gr. grip and a 105 gram shaft-which is quite lite. Heads need to be weighted first-heavy ones for graph. and lighter ones for steel.

For past several years I used nothing but forged irons. My eye preferred the low offset and the feel was great. I don't have the time I use to have to devote to my game so I looked for a low offset game improvement iron. I kept coming back to the Reacts mainly due to their pricing so decided to built a test iron and try them out. My first time out and the iron is as advertised it is sniper accurate. I was hitting the 8 iron 150 with ease (granted lofts are a little strong compared to older sets) but the height was very good and the ball seemed to be on a string to the hole. The feel while not the same as forged is very close but the accuracy trumps the feel every time. I was sold. That evening I went ahead and placed an order for the rest of the irons. This iron was just the medicine I needed to get back and play just as well if not better than I did years ago.

Irons are great. They are forgiving even though not oversized; yet you can work the ball when you want. They are great looking. The sweet spot is closer to the hossel than what I was playing. I made my own clubs, and found that the weights of these heads varried from their published specs. It was necessary to make adjustments using shaft tip weights to keep the swing weights consistent.

Wanted to go back to a heaver shaft. Was playing Cobra SZ with reg graphite. These irons are as good or maybe even better than the Cobra's. Acer has always built quality components and these are no exception. I have been building clubs for 15 years and stand by Acer quality and performance. Of course having a great shaft to match won't hurt either.

I have been a forged man for years. I just couldn't find a non-forged iron that didn't feel harsh with minimal offset. I built the XDS React 5 thru A-Wedge matched with Prolaunch Blue shafts and Golf Pride Multi Compound grips. I literally could not feel the ball leave the face on center hits. The reduced offset was exactly what I have been trying to find in this type of iron along with high launch to land softly on fast, narrow greens. If you are looking for a very playable, great feeling, easy to hit iron, then the XDS React iron is for you. Oh, and they're sneaky long too.

Very easy to hit. Even easier than my Power Play System Q2. I won 10 yds. High trajectory with no effort

Built 6 iron with FST 115 R-flex and Karma midsize grip. Straight and good distance - about 1-2 feet shorter than my 5 iron TaylorMade Burner 09! Now I will try it with grafite shaft ...

I started out with the 5 iron and was so impressed with the performance and feel of the club that I have just added the 4 and 6 irons also. I haven't had a 4 iron in the bag for some time now and all I can say is the "Welcome Back". The hybrids are going into retirement now. Easy to hit with great distance and accuracy. That about sums it up.

I built a set of these irons with the Apollo Hump shafts, red ring ferrules and Pure wrap grips, and they are a beautiful set of clubs! My first time out with them I shot 2 under my current handicap (and I would have shot even better if not for a few errant drives). I only had one or two poor iron shots the entire round, and even those were much more accurate and longer than my mishits with my previous iron set.
What I really like about the design of the Acer XDS irons is that they have a very traditional look at address with a low offset and thin topline, but they also have a nice big cavity back and a wide sole which make them VERY forgiving. I'm about a full club longer with these irons than my previous set, and I get a nice high ball flight with them. I'm not able to work the ball as much due to the higher ball flight, but then again most golfers who buy a game improvement type of club like this aren't going to be able to work the ball anyways. One thing I noticed is that I hardly lost any distance on my mishits. One hole in particular I hit my 9 iron and I missed the ball way out on the toe and I expected it to be 10-20 yards short of the green, but it landed pin-high and just a little bit to the right.
Bottom line - if you prefer a more traditional looking club at address (thin topline, compact blade length, low offset) but you need more forgiveness than most players-style clubs, you can't go wrong with these irons. The only thing I didn't like about them is they make a slightly "tinny" sound on mishits off-center. But other than that they are an absolutely phenominal set of irons!

I am 68 yrs. old and have a 5 handicap. I've been doing custom clubs for over 25 yrs. I finally decided to change from forged blades and decided to try the acer XDS react irons. The size of the blade is more traditional and I like that.I am hitting shots much higher a straighter than I have in many years.

Currently I am playing with the XK Pro irons. These were originally chosen for the reduced offset available in LH. With the higher lofts of the XK Pros, I lost about one clublength. The XDS React is exactly what I am looking for, reduced offset with superior feel. Distance is completely back and accuracy is better than the XK Pros.

I built a set of the new XDS React irons (5-SW) and matched them with True Temper Sensicore steel shafts and the Karma white mid-size grips. As soon as I pulled the 7 iron out of the bag it caught the eye of an asst. pro at the Champions Course here in Jacksonville. And of course he wanted to hit it! After hitting about ten balls he was asking how much would I charge to build him a set just like! he said not only were they great looking but that even on the one's he didn't flush...they still flew and felt very solid. He normally plays Mizuno's but I think he's about to change!

Great looking and feeling irons. Assembled with Apollo stepless and Karma USA midsize grips. Love the look at address with the reduced offset and thin topline. I have not see an increase in distance over my Caiman irons, but feel they are more solid and consistant. Another awesome product from Hireko.

I've put away the blades and tried Hireko game improvement models to pick up a few strokes. It worked out well, so I shafted a XDS 7 iron head for a few rounds-WOW! Shafted the rest of the XDS heads with precisions/karma grips. The first round it was obvious the ball was struck better, and needed to adjust club distances. These heads really create a consistant feeling!

These are sharp looking irons with a large cavity.
I have been playing the Hireko Power Play System Q2 Irons (model I3486). The Acer React Irons are essentially identical to the Q2 Irons except for the cosmetics and V-grooves. I built the React Irons with the same shafts and grips as the Q2 Irons. For me, they played the same. I could switch the React Irons and the Q2 Irons and play the same level of golf. The React Irons do look great.

I built the 5 iron with a Apollo Phantom Shaft 95 gram shaft at 38.5" it feels great and the ball really jumps, it has a lot of Pop, I hit it about 185 yds and straight, not bad for a 60 year old.
I am putting the 6 thru GW together now,
Me on the left with the Beerman

These look allot like the newer Calloway irons, and in my opinion they set up even nicer. They have a nice thin top line, and a solid positive feedback on impact. I built a full set of these to give the extra perimeter weighting a good test drive. Since my swing speed is a bit higher, and these have a moderate offset, I matched them with Apollo Hump shafts for a little lower trajectory, and de-lofted them one degree lower than spec. for my needs. I color coordinated them with the red black ferrules and the Karakal red silver grips. First I tested them in front of the launch monitor with very positive results. I played a round with them this morning, and I was very pleasantly surprised at how straight and accurate they were, especially on the occasional miss-hit. Hit it on the toe a bit and it still flies straight as can be with very little loss of distance. Not only can I hit them more accurately than my Acer XK Pro irons (which have been my tried and true irons of choice), I can shape them more accurately as well. I was actually wowed by them. Having a little more weight out on the perimeter really adds a nice level of accuracy, as well as an increased level of control. I'm going to be using these little jewels for awhile, and my XK-pro irons are going to have to spend some time in the test club bin. I highly recommend them, and I'm already building a set for a new customer. In my opinion these are a win win.
