Use this product for new and for replacement shafts for Irons and Woods. Do most of my work like this for seniors. This shaft works and has good name value to my customers.

...three descriptions that also apply to a corpse. This shaft is over 25 grams heavier than most other graphite shafts, giving it a very dead feel at impact. Trimmed to Regular, it is much stiffer than other brands.
I built a Mantara FW and a hybrid with these shafts, as well as an Acer XP 9w for my father-in-law. All three clubs performed far worse than comparable clubs and could not manage the distances of higher lofted clubs!
I used these shafts because I wanted a name brand. I conclude that a low-end name brand is nowhere near the quality of a better small-brand shaft. Steer clear of the VX.

Comments about Hireko ALV:Aldila Value Series:

This is a great shaft--at any price. High quality, easy to work with. As a club maker, I have worked with many different shafts, and these are among the easiest to prep, cut, spine and mount.

About 2 months ago, I bought a bunch of Acer XP Pro (a very decent head, by the way) 6-irons on closeout and built several demo clubs, in regular and stiff configurations, for customers to compare. They were able to compare the Adila VX, Grafalloy ProCustom, Synchron ZT, and an OEM UST from another vendor.

Without exception, the comments I receive on this shaft are positive. Most people preferred this to all the other shafts, in either regular or stiff configuration. Some liked the ProCustom a little more, but when told they could save forty-five bucks on a set of irons with the Aldilas, they forgot all about the other shaft.

I ran the comparison test on myself as well: grabbing a club at random and hitting it without trying to identify which shaft I was hitting. The Aldila VX was, in my opinion, the far superior shaft. The feel is firm without being harsh, and transfers feedback from the head of the club to the hands very nicely. You know if you've hit a little on the heel or toe (or right in the sweet spot!) instantly. I like this shaft so much, I have put them on my own irons and fairway woods. I could put any shaft I want on my clubs, and I want these.

As I mentioned, the quality is top notch. The paint job is just right: not so think that the tips become a hassle to prep, nor so thin that they'll wear out going in and out of your bag. During spining, it is sometimes difficult to identify the spine, because these shafts are so well made that their flex is almost perfectly uniform. The cheaper made (not necessarily less expensive) shafts snap around like they are flat on one side!

Again, all in all a great shaft at any price, a great value, and certainly the pick of the crop in this price point!

Great Shafts

Pros:
Durable, Good Value, High Quality

Comments about Hireko ALV:Aldila Value Series:

you can spend 10 times the money but will not find a better graphite shaft for the average golfer. Mid kick point and enough torque to recover. Dynamic flex makes them 'adjustable.' We've been using them for years with our Driver, fairway woods and the Set Fit 55. never... not once... was there a problem or complaint.
