It took some research, but finding the Apollo Hump was the perfect replacement for Cobra's Hump. It was for my son's 9 Iron. He loves the set. Bought the set for [$] slightly used. I wish they were mine.

I make my own clubs and use to hit the TrueTemper Gold for years. Then on the advice of a good friend, I tried the Apollo Hump and haven't looked back. I am now on my third set of irons using this shaft. They are lighter that the TrueTemper I was hitting, which has increased my swing speed. This has added a significant amount of distance to my irons. I also like the consistency produced by the tip construction (there is no tip triming). This really enhances the consistent feel you get from iron to iron.

By far the most stable shaft I have ever used in irons. I've tried them all. Graphite, Rifle, Dynamic Gold....None compare to this. My trajectory came down by at least 20%. This shaft sends the ball dead at your aim point. I do have to work pretty hard to fade the ball but a small draw is very easy. I coupled this shaft with Acer XDS 2 professional irons from a few years back. Man what a great feel with Winn Excel Oversize grips. I highly recommend these to better players and if you are a mid handicap or higher understand that they do play stiff and offer small amounts of forgiveness. Great Shaft - Great Price. I have ordered two more 11 shaft sets for the future. Great job Apollo and thanks Hireko for making these available at such a great price.

These shafts are a great shaft for players with slower tempos, and who need a shaft that falls between a TT Gold S/R or R/A flex. The Hump S flex bridges the TT Gold S/R gap rather nicely, and the Hump R flex tends to bridge the R/A gap rather well. My swing has lost a few MPH over the years and this shaft fit my need perfectly. If you need a lightweight high bend point shaft with a more forgiving flex, then this will fit the bill nicely. The other thing I liked about them was that there is no need to tip trim them (because of the humped tip), which saves time and potential errors. I also found a nice consistency in CPM across the entire set. I do need to warn though, that this shaft will probably not be ideal for players with a fast tempo, however the Spectre Lite will work very nicely for them.

Replaced stiff DGs (S300) with these on Titleist 680 blades. The S300s feel too stiff as my swing has slowed down over the last few years. Picked up 10 yards on each club with no loss of accuracy. As an added bonus the long irons are much easier to hit now.

These are much lighter than DGs so you can add length to the club if you so choose. If you are used to a heavier shaft you may need to add swing weight.

Bought stiff flex, but they play closer to R flex and are not acceptable for aggressive swing.

I never really thought the shaft was so important to the game of golf until I switched to these. I have always had a very high ball flight and was loosing a little distance but more control than anything. These shafts give me a very good penetrating ball flight that is "fun" to see and even more "fun" to control. I have the XK Pro Heads on these and I am working the ball like never before. I have always been able to work the ball but only a little. I can now work it high, low, fade, draw, etc......and can keep the flight down under the wind and be able to stick the ball on the green. Lower irons and wedges are now getting much better spin on them so I can now use more clubs in my bag except my wedges to score with. Nice to be able to pitch or chip with a 8 Iron and stick it close. I love these shafts! Dynamic Gold shafts at half the price, whats not to love!

The hump seems to add a snap when solid contact is made that makes irons travels a club longer. The club just seems to go farther and be closer to the flag, especially with the shorter irons. Love them.

My previous two sets of irons had Rifle 5.0 shafts. I didn't not like the Rifle shafts but wanted to try something different and the Apollo Hump shafts intrigued me, largely because I tend to have a high ball flight and wanted to see what would happen if I switched to a shaft that promotes a lower ball flight. I've played with the Apollo Hump shafts (Acer XK Pro irons) for a season now and they haven't disappointed me. I'm getting a lower (but not ultra low), more penetrating ball flight plus more distance (about 10 yards more per iron)! How good is that? And I've just re-shafted my wedges with the Hump shafts for this season.

When I first got these shafts I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to bring myself to like them because of their non-traditional look (there is a small "hump" about 3/4 of the way down the shaft, hence the shaft name). But I have to say that I am VERY impressed with their performance. Like the last reviewer, I paired them up with a set of Acer XK Pro heads and I am very happy with them. Usually it takes me a few months to get adjusted to a new set of irons, but with this set I went out and shot the best round of my life (78) just my 2nd time out with them. And you can't beat the price - they are about 1/2 of the Dynamic Golds, and I would say they play every bit as good.

Replaced stiff OEM graphite shafts in my Top-Flite Tour 2003 irons with regular Hump shafts. The shafts are very smooth feeling and all around great steel shafts. The look is very unique. Distance is the same as the graphite but with tighter dispersion on good to well struck shots.

Mated with the Acer XP Tour Heads, This shaft is perfect. Great distance compared to the Dynamic Gold. Unique appearance. The finish is weak but, sufficient. They show scratches easily compared to the DG's or Rifles. FEEL and ACCURACY is great though! I Spined mine before I assembled...I feel with steel shafts, this is a must!
