I've been using TT Dynalites as my go-to shaft for game-improvement irons for awhile. I've felt the high-launch helps mid-high handicappers without the cost of graphite or ultralight steel. The Apollo Shadow Steel is very close to being a drop-in replacement in that regard, but at 1/2 - 1/3 the price.
My only complaint is a fleeting one, but the step pattern is quite strange. 90% of the stepped tapper happens within about 9" right in the middle of the shaft with a very tightly space series of steps and a long parallell section after that. This strange appearance may put some off at first, but doesn't really distract at address.

If you are tired of the wide variety of "stiff" graphite shafts, give this a try. You will feel its consistancy shot after shot.
Comments about Hireko APMSH:Apollo Shadow Steels:
Play clubs a half inch short of standard so shafts play a little stiff. But accuracy is very good and feel is better than I expected. Put Q2 irons on these and have no complaints.
Besdies, you can't beat the price.

Put the Q2 irons on these and the performance has been very acceptable. I play a club that is a 1/2 inch short of standard and the shafts are a bit stiff and distance suffers a bit. But, that's to be expected. However, accuracy is excellent.

This shaft is exactly as advertised. This has a nice soft tip that does help launch the ball high. It sometimes feels like the ball is coming out of a slingshot. Compares to a dynalite as far as feel and launch angle but costs much less.

I felt that I needed help getting loft out of my long to mid irons, so I gave these a try. I reshafted my 845s Armours with the Shadows 2-9 and Standard PW-LW. I was so pleased with the result that I also reshafted my 855s Armours, this time using Shadows for 2-7 and Standard for the 8-LW. Now, it's easy to get the ball in the air and with soft landings. Had to drill out the hosels to fit the parallel tips (Armours had tapered shafts). I have to say that the chrome quality is not as good as say, True Temper. Not that I've had any issues with rust at all. I wax my shafts twice a year (graphite, too) anyway. Really love my irons, now. Great feel and performance.

Reshafted my irons. Slight increse in distance, great improvement in feel and easy on my hands. Right now I can't find anything I don't like about the shafts.

I think the products Apollo Stepless and Shadow are very easy to work with when building a set of clube to frequency. Sorry to see the Stepless 'A' flex go away because the 'R' will not work for senior flexes in the lower numbered irons, frequency too strong. Bad move Hireko. BRING IT BACK!
I use both in building Custom Fitted Clubs.

The Shadow Shaft's tight step pattern not only looks great, but works well to help launch the ball high and soft. It instills confidence and helps me to keep my hands ahead of the ball (don't ask me why, it just does). I've built all my irons with this shaft (standard Apollo shafts are on my wedges).

I set it up for r-flex and a slower swing speed. This setup well for his needs. I would only give this shaft to a person that needs hieght. My dad, who I put the shafts on for, isn't getting more distance but I've notice higher shots for sure.

I built a set of irons for my mother with these shafts. She doesn't swing very fast, so these shafts work well for her. They provide a higher ball flight which spells out longer distances with slower swing speeds, but with the accuracy of steel. I have also found this shaft to work well with wedges.

I am one of the golfers that has a low ball flight. A few years back, I tried this shaft in "R" flex and did not have a lot of success with it. So I shelved my experiment.
About a week ago, I thought I'd give this shaft another try but in "S" flex. What a success! I got the high ball flight, longer distance and good accuiracy. For me this shaft is a winner and one I'd recommend to most golfers.

This shaft delivers great feel lower shaft kick, generating nice high soft landing shots.

Jeff Summit, the tech adviser for Hirecko suggested this shaft and it has been great. I have been snap hooking the ball a lot and now I'm down the middle. Thanks Jeff!
Comments about Hireko APMSH:Apollo Shadow Steels:
All, and I mean every one, of the Apollo Shadow shafts I installed in the Spring have rusted. They are the only shafts I have had this problem with.
If you build clubs for others, be prepared to face the possibility of replacement.
On the upside, I cannot complain about the performance. Just the constant comments about the rust.

Poor product. Every shaft @ least 6 grams lighter than advertised. Hireko's response/excuses even poorer.

I put one of these in a demo Q2 6-iron. I used R-flex and tip trimmed an additional 1/2" based on DSFI ratings. I've heard these shafts are commercial grade, but mine came out sufficiently close to spec, and the flex feels about right for me. Since I've only used one of the shafts, I can't speak of consistency. The finish on Apollo shafts doesn't quite compare to other shafts like FST from my experience.

I've used this shaft in everything from wedges to irons to hybrids and have had phenomenal results in all applications.
Comments about Hireko APMSH:Apollo Shadow Steels:
I like these shafts and use them on many of the iron sets I make for mid to high handicappers. No one has had any negative comments about them. A very good value.
Comments about Hireko APMSH:Apollo Shadow Steels:
I had Hireko build me a hybrid with this shaft based on a recomendation [...]. Talk about a great shaft at a great price. The shaft gets the ball in the air and accompanies it with a very soft landing. I had never been able to hit a hybrid before and with this shaft I can bomb away with mine. I have put this shaft in all my clubs I have built so far and I am thinking about putting together an iron set with these shafts.

I tried this shaft and it does get the ball airborne. Very easy to work with and beautiful to look at with its tight step pattern. I will use this shaft again.

I have been using Apollo Shadow shafts for twenty years. This is the perfect shaft for the 10+ handicap golfer. Do not be forced to use the Dynamic shaft with its high flex point. This shaft gets the ball airborne with its low flex point. I am a 4 handicapper and it works for me. If you assemble clubs, make one club as a demo and you will see.
