Comments about Hireko HS527:True Ace Death Stick Graphite:

I bought it based off of the reviews it was getting (plus the best name ever for a shaft) I paired it with a Dynacraft Avatar Driver Head and could not be happier with the pairing. With the lighter shaft weight, I let the club head do all the work in the swing. It doesn't feel like I am fighting the club at all anymore, I just haul back and let it rip. I did have to change up my swing a bit to adjust, but I am now hitting straight (for once) and getting the distance I have been sorely missing. Will definitely buy some more to round out my wood set.

I broke it aligning the spine

A friend bought this and asked me to spine align and install it for him. I put it in the machine, placed a bearing on the tip and flexed the shaft to find the spine. It broke right were it exited the spine machine. Could have been my error since I have always had good results with any Hireko products. Cost me a fast [$]. I replaced it for my friend and told him to take it somewhere else to get it installed.

I build clubs and put this shaft in the Caiman 10.5 driver. I already have a T/M Burner with a Aldila Voodoo 60 s flex. Club H/speed is 110 hit T/M 255 hit Caiman w/ Death Stick shaft maybe 200 severe slice way to much flex nice and light however to much flex for my swing speed.

Comments about Hireko HS527:True Ace Death Stick Graphite:

Purchased to replace Aldila Serrano in Ping G15 driver. I'm a 2.9 handicap with a 100-105 mph swing speed. I ordered the Stiff flex. In the DSFI, it rated the Serrano at 90 mph in stiff and the Death Stick at 94 mph. The CPM's and torque ratings were close between the Serrano and Death Stick with the Death Stick having about 10 grams less weight and a slightly stiffer butt and tip section. On paper it seemed it would work perfectly to bring down some spin due to the stiffer tip section. Also with the higher recommended swing speed I figured it would play stiffer. I have a smooth tempo so the light weight wasn't going to be a problem. When the shaft arrived it looked good and the maroon and black colors matched the G15 driver perfectly It had extremely thin shaft walls in the tip which caused me some concern about breaking, especially when shimmed into a .350 hosel. I shafted it untipped as the head weight on the G15 was 197 grams and cut it to 45 3/4" long (stock Ping length). Swingweight came out at D2. Once I got it shafted and hit it a few times it didn't feel brittle or weak and I didn't feel breakage would be an issue anymore.Unfortunately the specs on paper did not live up to it's performance on the course. This shaft launched the ball higher and generated much more spin than the Serrano did. Balls went high in the air and dropped straight down with noticable loss in distance. The feel, however, was very good and it really firmed up the feel of the ball striking the head. I did find that if I kept the tempo very slow I got better performance but if I stepped on it at all, I got a high spinny shot that lost lots of distance.Overall I am quite disappointed that it didn't work out but the shaft felt great for the price and was worth the experiment. I'm sure given the right golfer it be a fantastic shaft but as with any shaft, whether it costs [$] or $350, you have to get the right fit and this wasn't the right fit for me.

I installed this in an old Oxygen Type X 10.5* club head. I used the "R" flex because I felt I had lost some swing speed. The club is used as a test club for new shafts that I feel intrigued to try.

The shaft was very stable. It launched nice and high (good for me) because I wanted a higher ball flight. There was an added benefit of good roll. I hit one of the longest drives of my career on a par 5 and the others were easily about 10 yards longer than my usual distance. Extremely happy with this purchase.

Comments about Hireko HS527:True Ace Death Stick Graphite:

Installed regular flex on Prophet head and feels great throughout swing. Gained 5-8 yards extra distance. Not too wild about "death head" graphics. Plan to put Death Sticks shafts on several other drivers I own. Also installed one on a friend's driver, and he is highly impressed with its performance, particularly the additional distance he gained.
