I bought the club from the demo/used bin, but it was is new condition. I wanted to test out the XK head design and the graphite shaft option, but I didn't want to pay a lot of money. It was only [$], so I figured, what the heck. Unfortunately, the #4 club must have been custom built for a taller golfer, because it was about 2 inches longer than my old 4 iron and closer to the length of my #3 hybrid. I could only test it by chocking down on the club to eliminate the length. I've been testing Taylormade Burner clubs (Tour Burner and Burner 2009) at a local Golf Galaxy, to see if there was difference worth spending an extra $250+ to get a full set compared to Hireko's models. With the graphite shaft, the XK had the same feel as the non-Tour Burner clubs with their 95 gram steel shafts. My guess is a lightweight steel shaft would be similar, so I think the XK is a good alternative to the Taylormade Burner.

Like the XK demo head in a previous post, I bought a Power Play #6 iron with the standard shaft and grip for [$] from the used/demo club bin. It too was in new condition. I wanted to see what a base club felt like compared to the custom configured XDS club I was also ordering. Even with the standard stepped Apollo shaft, the Power Play head had a softer feel than my old Spalding Executives I've played with for 25 years. Off center hits still go straight with decent length, and the vibration from such hits is noticeably less than my old clubs. You still know you mishit the ball, but the club lets you know comfortably instead of being jarring.I would recommend upgrading to a slightly lighter shaft than the 125 gm base shaft, but if you're looking for a good set at a fair price you'd be safe with the base model.I would recommend upgrading the grip. I found the base Karma grip a bit slick for my tastes. I've been using the Lamkin Crossline (jumbo) grip on my old clubs, but have recently downsized to the midsize grip on my new clubs to help square the clubhead. For only $2.30 each, the extra tackiness of the Lamkin is a worthwhile upgrade, in my opinion.

I ordered these preowned clubs sight unseen, just knew the head was what I wanted. They are perfect.
