Power Play Caiman Raw Power Fairway Woods
The creation of this fairway wood is quite unique to the market. Instead of standard two-piece investment casting nearly all stainless fairways are produced today, this is constructed as if it was a four-piece forged titanium driver. But rather than titanium and titanium alloy selected, we started out with ultra-thin maraging steel. The purpose of utilizing the thin maraging steel face inserts allowed the face to flex to produce a high coefficient of restitution or rebound effect (approaching the USGA legal limit for spring-like effect). Just like the use of titanium in modern drivers as a way to increase the ball velocity coming off the face. This is no easy task as the small face area of a fairway wood does not flex nearly as much as a modern titanium driver’s face.
Secondly, we selected the more expensive route by incorporating a “cup-face” face plate, where part of the face plate is incorporated into the sole, crown and skirt area of the head. This pushed the weld back away from the actual face. By moving the weld further back away from the face, the areas around the perimeter could be made thinner and deflect more, thus producing a higher ball speed to areas other than the center of the face as compared to traditional welding techniques.

The profile of the Caiman Fairways follows the same unique geometric shape as the matching Caiman driver. Every small detail was thoroughly examined from the squared off heel and toe areas, reduced face progression, decal size and locations to the masking of the paint lines. All of these features are designed to frame the club and assist in alignment to your target.

Hireko engineered these fairway woods with a variable crown thickness (as little as 0.5mm which is as little as the thickness of 5 sheets of paper!) All the unwanted weight normally reserved for the crown of ordinary fairway wood was repositioned deep within the head. This provides you with a high launching ball flight with incredible accuracy.
