I have a friend with FT-I driver with a big scratch on the crown. Called
several places, even Callaway about getting it re-finished or repainted.
Every one says it cant be done because of the composite crown but no-body says why. How are they painted at the factory? Please help me with
an answer. thanks

The color you see may be very well the paper-thin carbon crown with a coat of polyurethane on it. Without seeing the severity of it, it is hard to say how I might attempt it, if at all. Possibly you could use 400 grip wet/dry sandpaper (wet of course) and see if you couldn't soften the edges and then re-shoot with some clear poly. Maybe another fellow forum reader can provide some advice.
Sincerely,

Visit a local auto paint shop or body repair garage. They may be able to touch up the scratch with a matching color and buff it up to make the scratch less noticeable.
