I was wondering if you could make a recommendation on an iron for me? I currently play the TM R7 Draws with TT stiff steel, and a decent round for me is if I play bogey golf. When I bought the Draw irons I had a violent OTT swing, but in the past several months I have slowed my swing down to mid tempo and have cut a lot of the OTT out. Almost all my misses now are left but around pin high. I have a relatively high ball flight and my 7 iron usually goes 145 yards or so (I'm 33, by the way).

I've seen many positive reviews on the Acer XP 905's and have been looking at those and the XK series, as well. Just with what you know, would you think either of these would be a good fit for me? I'd like to have something with forgiveness and a bit of feel. Also, I was thinking about going with the Apollo Stepless Steel in regular because I'm not swinging as hard. Does that sound like a wise choice?

I'm looking forward to hearing from you so I can make my purchase.

Thanks a lot,
Joey

Joey:

The Acer XK or the older XP905 would be very good choices for game improvement without the extreme draw bias. But if you still are left of the target, perhaps less offset may be in order. One other suggestion would be the Power Play Q2. The Stepless shaft is an excellent value. It will be a few grams heavier than the TT Lite but the R-flex will not be as stiff as the R-flex as well.

Thanks, Jeff. I haven't read much about the Q2's so I'm not as familiar with them. What is your opinion on forgiveness, feel and workability between the Q2's and the XK/905's?

Thanks a lot!

Joey:

These have just as much forgiveness as the Acer XK, but with less offset. I can't say I notice a feel difference either. These fit between the XK and the XK Pro. Workability is overrated - straight is great.
