Jeff,
I see when looking through the specifications for your various irons that the change in lie angle from one club in a particular set to the next club varies from 1/2* to 3/4* and more. Some sets even change by different amounts as they progress.
What design factors determine how much the lie angle progresses within a particular set?

But here is a synopsis. With the traditional 1/2" length increments, if the lies are 1* apart, then there is more variation in the distance between you and the ball from the longest to shortest club.
If you see 0.5* lie increments, the distance between you and the ball from the longest to shortest club is a narrower range and possibly easier from set up standpoint for higher handicapped golfers. The only problem is how high or low you will change your hand position as you will have a greater range from the longest to shortest club.
The 3/4* increment is a compromise between the two.
