Jeff, i have bought some things from Hireko before and have made some clubs for myself which i have given away(i find that enjoyable, nothing wrong with the clubs). At any rate my giving away the clubs lead to making clubs for some others, simple stuff, hybrids, wedges, etc. Now i have a friend who asked me to make him up a driver, just to fool around with. Now i have made myself a few drivers in the past so i figure no biggie right? LOL, only he tells me he wants it to be 48" or longer. WOW! and he gives me an old Biggest Big Bertha head to do it with. Now here is the tricky part for me and where i hope you can help me. I noticed that some shafts say they are 48" however with the bore through hosel will that effectively make the shaft shorter? Also, do i need to use some sort of plug in the bottom of the head to "seal" the shaft in? Would it be just as effective to use a regular length shaft and use a shaft extender? He also Claims to want a stiff shaft(he hits a 5 iron 150yds) because of the weight of the head and it moving around, however i feel that he means that he wants a shaft with low torque. So now that i basically asked you to make the club up for me...LOL...just kidding. Do they even make a reg flex shaft with low torque and do you have one or any that you could recommend to this poor confused guy. Thanks in advance and i anxiously anticipate and answer. oh i love the Acer xp pro's, they are an excellent product and if they didn't work so well for me i replace them with another set of Acers in a minute...LOL.

You are tackling one of the harder club heads to retrofit because you have the bore thru to content with. If you have a clubmaking book, it should explain the procedure to finishing offf the tip. One 48" shaft that is very lightweight for this application is the SK Fiber Pure Energy. The plugs aren't in the catalog, but we do offer them. The code is TBP and they come in a package of 25.
