Each shop will have their own way of measuring length. I found the most accurate method to be using a 48" ruler in tandem with a Mitchell Clublength Ruler Soleplate http://www.hirekogolf.com/hireko/orderportal/catalog_presentation/by_group/0/446/0/0/0/0/0.
