The key is to start out with shafts will all the same frequency ( or in a real world situation ones that are extremely close to one another). If the shafts don't match raw; they won't match cut. That is if you have to trim arbitrary amounts off the tip to hit a particular target frequency, you are only creating numbers. By trimming in a non-uniform amounts to try to match non-matching shafts, you are affecting other parameters that can change the feel of the shaft. Even if you purchase RP Rifle shafts, that does not guarantee that a frequency matched set of clubs will occur. First, there is even a slight tolerance to these shafts. Next, the bottom of bore to ground line measurements have to be the same throughout the set, the swingweight the same and the lengths in nice even increments.
I know it may not answer your question, but it is the honest answer. You have to remember that the RP shafts start out as many different blanks then are sub-sorted by frequency to those with tight tolerances before they start to trim them and before you ever purchase them.
Sincerely,
Jeff Summitt
