I have a set of 2002 Big Bertha irons I would like to reshaft. They have the steel shafts that are slit on the end to match the taper. I have been told I should use taper tips shafts as a replacement. Will taper tips fit OK? I can cut the slits with a Dremiel if not. Is there any adjustment to the tip trimming for bore through irons? I was thinking o useing Rifle's?

Thanks

Walter:

Callaway started out with parallel tip shaft and split the tips as you have found. It is easier just to run a 3/8" drill bit down through the hosel as if you were cleaning out the old epoxy then using parallel tip shaft. If you are using a Rifle #1-iron blank, then tip trim 1" less off the tip than what would be called for. If you are using dedicated shafts, soft-step two shafts (i.e. use 2-iron shaft in a 4-iron head, 3-iron shaft into the 5-iron...).

Sincerely,

Jeff Summitt
