This is the best Driver I have hit in years. Assembled to an Aldila VS Proto and 12 degree loft, it is a long bomber that will be used for quite a while. I can'd wait to see if the OEM's copy this one. Great job Hireko!

I'm currently playing a Maltby KE4 V 10.5* Driver with KE4 V graphite in S-flex. My preferred length is 44.5", so I'm seriously considering using a heavier shaft for my next Driver build, and I'm debating between the CAIMAN and System Q2 Drivers. Mostly, I'm looking for more accuracy (more fairways hit), but I don't want to sacrifice a lot of distance either.

As for a heavier shaft, the KE4 V shaft in my current Driver is in the 50g range. What are some 65g+ shafts I should consider considering my swing info below?

Driver swing speed is around 100mph
10.5* driver loft should be ideal (based on my fitting in March)
I prefer Mid trajectory, so soft tip shafts probably won't be ideal
I have a fairly late release

Always lookin' for the next best club to build...

System Q2 20* Hybrid w/ Cadence Hybrid, Q2 6-iron with Shadow Steel, and Mantara 3-iron and PW with Balistik Steel are built. Considering Q2s for my next iron set, and the Q2 hybrid is in the bag. Perhaps a 23* to be added at some point...

At 44.5", you have some options. The Q2 driver affords the opportunity to fine-tune the weight using additional screws. After all, you may not know if you need a lighter or heavier swingweight without trying it first. With the Caiman, you could ad a 6g lead tip pin to achieve a normal swingweight range as the longer 45" shafted driver with a shaft in the 60g range. A couple mid-launching shafts to look at are the Aldila Gamer or the True Ace Orange Ion.

My KE4 V Driver also has adjustable weights. I have the swing weight around D2 now, which I think is fine. I tried it at a lower swing weight, and I prefer the "heavier" feel. However, the total weight might be a little low because I do have a tendency to pull my drives at times. Not to mention I'm only hitting around 22% of fairways. Plus, with lighter weight shafts, the balance point is lower. A heavier shaft would raise the balance point, and I'd like to know if that improves the feel of the club at the same time. I'm also thinking the heavier total weight might help me gain better control of the club.

Also, are both the Q2 and CAIMAN designed for more accuracy, or is there one that tends to promote accuracy more than distance?

Looking at the DSFI range for the Orange Ion shaft, which flex would you say would be best for me with my 100mph swing speed and late release? Perhaps somewhere between R and S?

One thing I didn't mention was that my handicap is currently just over 20, but my average score for 18 holes tends to be around 100. Hitting more than 22% of my fairways sure wouldn't hurt my scores...

To me, the Q2 and Caiman are interchangeable in term of accuracy and distance. However others that I have spoke to that have hit both say the Caiman is longer. But that is why we make more than one style of driver because not everyone will see the same results or have the same preferences.

You may be better off with the S-flex in the Orange Ion. There is only 1" difference in tip trimming anyway, but the stiff shaft may provide a little more control with the late release.

If your average score is close to 100, then 22% of fairways hit is actually pretty good.

For those who have asked (or begged), we will be getting a 9.5* model later this fall.
