Bought a Powerplay System Q2 10.5* driver head. Like the feel, like the look, like the sound. I am not getting the ball flight that I was hoping for. Current shaft is an old True temper Bi-matrix stiff shaft, 45" length. Current flight with new head and shaft set up is high and right power fade. Normal ball flight is medium flight with a very slight fade. common miss is a block right, occasional pull hook. Normally use Callaway premium ball or Taylormade Black 07 or something of similar characteristics. What are the characteristics that should be looked at in a shaft for the new MOI heads. My normal driver distance is about 260 I hit a S59 7iron with a stiff steel shaft 150+ yds. I don't have access to clubfitting so I have no idea what my swing speed is. Any suggestions would be helpful as far what kind of shaft(s) to look at. Thank you

Pete:

The BiMatrix is an unusual shaft. First, it is tip stiff. This would normally result into a low ball flight, but it could lead to leaving the face open and the subsequent high fade. The shaft is not light either. At 45" it may be a higher than normal swingweight and further assist in producing the power fade. My question is what shaft were you using previously? I don't necessarily go from one extreme to another without some additional information.

Jeff.
Thank you for the quick reply. I have never had another shaft in that particular club head. The other driver that I own is a Bridgestone J33R 9.5 420cc with a Fujikura Vista Pro 60 stiff flex that gives me a medium trajectory. I hit that club well. Normal ball is pretty straight, with an occasional block and a overswung hook once in a great while. I owned a Taylormade 580 with a UST Proforce 65 stiff that I hit pretty well until it was stolen. This is the first club head that I have owned that is this large, so I would imagine there is a learning curve.
Thank you

Pete:

The difference between 420cc and 460cc is nominal, so I don't feel it is a learning curve in getting adjusted to the size as much as it is the two items I mentioned before. The Vista Pro 60 would have characteristics similar to a Apollo Masterflex HP65. This should lighten the overall weight, swingweight and tip stiffness and quite possibly prevent the ball from going to the right.

Thank you very much for your time. I value your opinion and I will look into that shaft. I find the components from Hireko to be very good quality.
