I have been hammering Jeff and everyone else questions about the company and clubs to make sure it was the right fit for me. On Friday, I received all the components. I have never assembled clubs before, so I researched it plenty. The old Dynacraft videos that Jeff Jackson put together on youtube were a great teacher.

Friday, I cut the tips, put the ferrules and club heads on. Once they were dry on Saturday, I trimmed the clubs to my length and put the grips on. I haven't hit with them yet, I plan to do that tonight at the range.

The first few irons I put together as I watched the video to make sure I didn't miss anything. After I felt comfortable the process was a breeze. I think it got down to less than 10 minutes per club to measure, trim, sand and apply epoxy. I had to let them sit for a day before measuring the club length and put the grips on.

To have bought them and put them together within one week makes me very happy. I look forward to playing with these clubs tonight at the range, especially the Mantara woods, as they are very easy to hit.

Isn't it a wonderful feeling to look at such a beautiful set of golf clubs and think "I did a good job!".

Take your time getting the "feel" of your new clubs. I got the best advice last week in Myrtle Beach (Wednesday it was 37 degrees with a 30 mph wind, brrr), make a good, smooth swing and let the ball get in the way. Too many of us hit "at" the ball instead. I couldn't believe how well it worked!

Hireko is a First Class company and they have wonderful products!

Good luck with your new clubs and your game this year!

Thanks Tim. I definitely had that feeling. I received lots of negative criticism from some friends about not putting them together correctly. Last night I went to the driving range (it was a bit warmer here !) and they were all very impressed. That was icing on the cake for me.

The clubs themselves are 1" shorter than the old ones I hit before. This was intentional, as I cut them to fit my build. You're right about swinging through the ball, as I was focusing on half swings just to feel the contact.

The irons feel very, very smooth when hit (correctly!). My biggest surprise was how easy it was to hit the Mantara 3W and 5W, tee'd up or not. I can see myself dropping my driver for my 3W on a day if I feel good with it.

Hobbyist clubmaking has been so much fun, I don't know where to begin. I've learned a lot over the past 5+ years and wouldn't change a thing.

Enjoy your clubs.

I concur about the mantera fwy. woods. I have a 3 wood that is as forgiving as any fwy. wood I've ever tried. It really is a point and shoot club.

It looks like in the pic that you have the new acer xc wedge? If so could you post a closer pic. from the top view of playing position. I really like the look of these wedges, but wanted to see a real pic from this angle.

Hey at least someone is enjoying the snow. I can't wait for it to completely melt.

Thanks for the pics, the wedges really look good. Hit em well and post a review after you've worked them in. Thanks again.

Did ya turn them ferrules down?

I really like the looks of those wedges myself. What kind of irons are those?

I'm not sure what you mean by turning them down?

Those in the close ups are the XC Wedges. I have the XK irons, which you see in the larger picture towards the top.

I can't say enough about the wedges. I haven't used the 56 degree yet, but I am dead on with the 52 and 60 degree wedges.

I must say you are doing a good job in making those clubs. Is it hard to bend and get the correct angles?

Just read this post. Hope your clubs are working well for you.

BTW, turning down the ferrule means to sand (either by hand or by machine) the edge closest to the club head so that there is a smoooooooooooth transition from the ferrule to the club head.
