Hi. My previous driver was the older version of the Avatar that I shafted with the Cadence 65, trimmed S+. I liked this driver alot, though the head was a little light and I hit the ball a little higher than I thought was ideal. I recently built a new driver with the Avatar Xmoi using a Blue Crush shaft. The distance is similar to the old driver though with a lower ball flight, perhaps a bit too low. After all that, my question is will one of the new True Ace shafts (or another brand) give me a ball flight somewhere in between. My normal distance is 240 to 250, occasionally a bit further. Thanks.

The older Cadence 65 is similar to the current True Ace Cadence Blue. You might want to think about the True Ace Cadence Orange, or if looking at another line that is in a somewhat similar price range - the Aldila Gamer Driver shaft.

I recently made a LH Caiman driver with an EPIC shaft. My old driver was a dynacraft launch series with a Graffalloy Prolaunch Blue 65. I got to the point where I could hit it straight and then recently my swing evolved to where everything would go right. I attributed that to the high torque and 2* closed face.

With the Caiman, I am hitting it lower and beginning to slice it again or an extreme power fade. Could I have made a poor choice in shafts andif so, would the .4 degrees higher in torque of the True Ace Orange make a difference?

I doubt it is the torque causing the ball flight. I don't know what flex you had in both combinations, but did you hit the two clubs side-by-side and it just didn't happen to be an off day?

both R flex. I started out hitting the Caiman pretty straight, ball flight was lower and I seemed to lose a little distance, but that may be due to moisture in the air and I live in seattle. But then I started to hit the Caiman with a right to left ball flight (which is my natural ball flight I am left handed) not quite a banana slice but a slice. I put my old driver back in play because this one course I play has really narrow fairways and I was much straighter. I am working with an instructor on shortening my back swing......that could be part of it too, but it is not impacting my ironplat that way.

Part of the reason for the lower ball flight is the "vanity" lofts on the older Dynacraft Launch Series drivers. If you were playing 10.5* loft in that head, it was really a 11.5* loft. The Caiman's are the lofts they are supposed to be. Figuring that you were at one point hitting the ball straight with the Caiman / Epic combo, I would attribute the difference in ball flight to a change in your swing or the honeymoon was over. The Epic is also a little heavier shaft which subsequently produces a slightly heavier overall weight. Try choking down a 1/2" on the grip the next time at the range as see if that doesn't straight out the direction. If so, you can remove the grip and cut it down to the shorter length.

If I recall correctly the LH driver was stamped wrong. It was supposed to be stamped 9.5* and it was stamped 10.5*. I was asked if I wanted to return it and wait for the corrected one. I knew it was a vanity loft, so I didn't really care and kept what was sent. LH versions typically come in only one loft

Anyway, I will try your suggestion. Actually, I already shortened the shaft. I did not realize that the EPIC was 10 grams + heavier than the Pro Launch Blue. besides, it should also help with control. I threaten to make my shafts shorter and just never do.....vanity?

I guess its not vanity if you see and feel if it affects your playing the game. Just making adjustment for what is right.
