Jeff,
I am trying to narrow down my choices for some iron shafts. In looking at the DSFI specifications for the Cadence R flex iron shafts, I am confused. The numbers for the Cadence red make it look like it should be softer and higher launching than the blue, yet it is rated for a faster swing speed. It is also sold as being the lower launching choice. What don't I understand?

On paper the two look pretty close and even reversed. Where the numbers don't show is the there is less deflection overall in the Red because of the firmer mid section, thus the lower flight.

Jeff,
Thanks very much for helping me understand the subtleties of the DSFI. You make it clear that there is more research involved in picking the right shaft than just reading the numbers in the list.

Jeff,
I have a follow-up question. I believe I'll be going with the Cadence blue iron shafts and I see them described as also being a good fit in hybrids. Looking at the DSFI, the Cadence orange hybrid shaft appears to be one that would really get the ball in the air. Can you give me some insight into the actual performance differences between the two in a hybrid. I am looking to build Caiman hybrids in R flex.
Cheers, Lee

Lee:
Take a look at the lengths as you will find the Cadence Orange hybrids were tested at a longer length. That is why you will see some difference in the data. The Cadence Orange hybrid was a redesign of the older Cadence hybrids which we had a lot of success with. The new Blue iron/hybrid was patterned off of the former Cadence 75 HL and previous to that, the ACD LW. Both of those shafts had a great track record in hybrids and exhibited a higher ball flight than the now new Cadence Orange Hybrid.

Jeff,
Thanks again for the help. As you said, the orange hybrid is a different trim and length, that is why I wanted your opinion. The Cadence Blue in my PP Q2 driver is magic, so I am looking forward to seeing what the iron version can do in a Caiman hybrid.
