Hello. I am 64 years old, currently handicap 13. (was 11)
After 2 years not having played because of an injury I started playing again.
My irons are the nice Acer XDS2 pro 2-PW, with TT-lite shaft trimmed firm.
I want to replace them with low offset heads; not necessarily log cg ones as I dont have problems with low trajectories.
I am also thinking of graphite shafts.
I should also like to have recommendations for the shaft. (Or should I stay with steel ?)
I have a draw/hook tendency, and the distance I hit with a 5 iron is about 160-165 yards.
In short what is the recommended head/shaft ?
Thanks a lot !

There is a short list of heads with reduced offset: Acer XK Pro, Acer XP 905 Pro and the Dynacraft Prophet CNC. As far as the shaft, there are models that are pretty stiff, just lighter weight than steel. Usually the weight will encourage one to use a slightly longer (1/2") club length in order to obtain the same swingweight. One exception is the Aldila Gamer iron which will yield a similar swingweight to steel at identical length. Plus the shaft's tip should help prevent as much of a hook and keep the ball down. Other than than, you may want to continue with steel.
