I bought the following iron and shaft combo (see below), and went about assembling them. I found that it wasn't possible to test fit the head to the shaft without getting it really wedged on tight. Too tight, for that matter. Right now, the head is on the shaft, with the ferrule, but it's too tight to remove and apply epoxy. I doubt there's any room between the hosel and shaft for any epoxy at all.
Is this normal, or did I commit an error and buy incompatible parts (even though the specs say they should fit together)?
What's my recourse: how do I remove the head from the shaft without damaging either so I can epoxy them together?
Iron: Acer XK High Trajectory Iron (I3461-007)
Shaft: Acer Velocity Graphite Black (GS10065-001-IAL)
Thanks for your help!

There are plus or minus tolerance with the components, so from time to time you may have to bore to hosel out - this is considered a normal clubmaking procedure. However, before you get to that point, you will need to tip trim the shaft and abrade the tip (removing the paint and polyurethane from the shaft down to the bare graphite for the length of the insertion depth plus 1/2 the length of the ferrule).
If the shaft it stuck, place the shaft in a vise clamp in your bench vise. Clamp as close to the top of the hosel as possible. Then try to giggle the head back and forth to release it from the shaft.

Jeff,
Thanks for the reply. I did tip trim the shaft and abrade the tip, so we're good there. I did not bore the hosel out, however. So, assuming I can get the club head off the shaft, I will try that.
I will try the bench vise to try to get the head off the shaft, but it is pretty darn tight. No wiggle room that I can discern. Any lubricants that I could try that might help as well
Thanks,
Mark

I wouldn't try any lubicrants. But from wiggling the head back and forth, the hosel may heat up. You might try messaging the with an ice cube - I have used that trick every one in a while.
