Hybrids or shorter fairway woods???

Like a lot of golfers I really struggle with fairway woods. I hit my driver fine and even hit my 3 and 4 irons ok most of the time. But you put a 3W or 5W in my hand and expect me to hit it off the deck I dont do well at all. I am 5'6" and club lengths from 40"-43" off the turf are trouble.

I have carried a Tour Edge Bazooka 2I 18* Iron wood as my only FW but I really dont hit it much further than my 3I.

It seems like a lot of newer OEM hybrids are closer to FW lengths than iron lengths so that isn't going to help.

Do you have any suggestions for a 38" and 40" hybrid or fairway wood but with 3W and 5W loft? Even just 1 good club to fill the gap between my driver and 3I would be fantastic.

Thanks

I would seriously look at our Acer XDS hybrids. These are just as big as fairways in the lower lofts and can be made to the shorter lengths.

Jeff,

Can the fairway wood lie angle be changed to have a shorter shaft installed and be a correct set-up for him? I have the new Acer XK 3+ with a steel shaft in a shorter length and cannot believe how easy it is to hit "off the deck". Much easier than the Caiman 3 wood made to the 5 wood length. I agree hybrids are easier to hit from the fairway than woods and especially for those with a steeper swing.

Hit them long and straight!

Tim:

In order to save weight and use it elsewhere, the hosel on modern fairway woods were made shorter. The shorter hosel coupled with the normal insertion depth (below the base of the hosel) has effectively made them unbendable.
