Jeff

I picked up a used set of 4 System Q hybrids with Aldila TGi 100 shafts and the 6ggm weight screws.

They are

16* 40.5"
18* 40.5"
22* 40.25"
25* 40"

I want to regrip to my normal Lamkin Crossline and go ahead and cut the clubs to 40", 39.5", 39" and 38.5".

Will I need to add heavier weight screws for swing weight adjustment?

What is the shortest length/weight screw combo you would reccmmend with this shaft?

Thanks

You can cut them pretty short if you want becuase we have as much as 12g screws. Replacing all three 6g with 12g screws that will add 18g or the equivalent of @ 9 swingweights. Each 1/2" shorter you make the clubs will result into a 3 point reduction. So you may want to remove the grips, cut the length and re-grip. After which re-weigh the clubs on the swingweight scale and then I can tell you what weights you need to get the set to match.

Those heads are lighter than a normal iron so we would suggest slightly different lengths than you had. The TGi100 is as heavy as a standard steel shaft, so we would recommend the following lengths:

16* 40.5"
18* 40"
22* 39.5"
25* 39"

Any shorter than that and I am afraid you won't be able to match swingweight, nor be able to get heavy enough screws to achieve a normal swingweight and shaft stiffness.

Jeff,

I am confused. But please know its my own ignorance at fault...lol.

Are you saying I can cut them shorter but not any shorter than what you recommend? Or are the lengths you have listed are recommended for the installed 6gm weights?

My ideal would be 1/2" less than your list.

16* 40"
18* 39.5"
22* 39"
25" 38.5"

My Cleveland TA5 is 27* 38" D0.

Are you saying that even the 12gm weights might not get me there?

Thanks

My bad! You can cut them shorter, but any shorter than I recommended without changing the to heavier weights and I am afraid that the swingweight will be too light and subsequently the shaft will feel pretty stiff. If you make them 1/2" shorter than what I posted, you will need to add and additional 6g to the head of each one (possibly more if you wanted a heavier swingweight).

Jeff,

I understand now.

The Cleveland TA5 I mentioned was my 5I. That is where I got my desired lengths at. A 1/2" progression longer from there.

Honestly, I probably wont do anything right away. I will use them a few times and see where I am at with them.

I cant hit fairway woods and really have not much experience with hybrids plus I bought them for $10 a club. Being longer than I thought I wanted plus the ability to change weight gives me some room to experiment.

If I do decide to add weight is it usually done equally? I mean if I am not trying to draw or fade are the weights the same in each space? For example if I want to add 6-8 grams would I pull the 6 gm weights and replace with 8 gms (or more)? What would happen if I left the center a 6 gm and put 10 gms on each end?

Thanks

The head is pretty small so it takes a considerable amount of weight to alter the CG. If you wanted to achieve the most affect you would leave the 6g screw in the center port and get an additional 2 and 12g screw. For a draw bias configuration, you would put the 12g screw in the heel port and the 2g in the toe port. For fade biased, it would be the opposite.
