I want to order the 12-degree Mantara Titanium Driver with the shaft cut down 1” for added control. I am a senior male golfer and all my other clubs are A flex. From reading other postings I understand that (1) I should order a heaver shaft to make up for the weight lost in cutting the shaft and (2) I should order a stiffer shaft than normal, as cutting the shaft down will make it more flexible. If this is not correct, please advise.

I was thinking about ordering the cut down club from you with a SK Fiber Tour Track 80 shaft in R flex. Is this an appropriate choice given the above or would you suggest something else? Will the head weight be in balance with the rest of the club?

I might suggest a slightly heavier shaft so you have some weight or heft at the end of the clubs, but I would not advise going stiffer. The shaft will not become more flexible, unless you add weight to the head. If you order it 1" shorter then the head weight will not be altered and the swingweight will reduce nullifying any effect of cutting off the stiffer end (butt) of the shaft.

Are there graphite shafts that are heavier graphite shafts or are you suggesting a metal shaft? In either case what specific shaft would you suggest? Also, your web site does not allow one to order a male club cut down more than 1". Is there a way to order it cut down 1.5" ?

I am sure the shaft that is in the current driver is graphite as most likely will be in the 60g or lighter range. The Tour Trac 80 is in the mid 70's, but I don't know if I would necessary suggest steel. If you cut the club down shorter than 1", then the clubhead may feel too light. But you could order by Ladies minus 1/2" which would be the same as Men's minus 1.5".
