Both would be an excellent choice for the beginner. The difference is if someone was thinking about hybrids in the lower lofted clubs, the Cabriolet will in themselves have a lot of hybrid-like qualities so the set will look continuous instead of mixing and matching different style heads as many do today.
The XK HT has pretty much the same width sole throughout the set (@1"). The Cabriolet will range from 2.2" in the #3 down to 1.25" in the wedges.
