Recently, I built a 3 and 4 iron using the Oxygen Type S heads and Power Play Select iron shafts trimmed to regular flex and 1/2 inch shorter than standard length. Basically, this was an inexpensive experiment to see if I could still hit long irons.
What a pleasant surprise! I've been hitting these sticks straight as an arrow and almost, but not quite, as long as I hit the corresponding hybrids. I'm just amazed at the accuracy and forgiveness of these irons.
Now, here's my question:
As a winter project I want to build an iron set, 5-pw, and since the Oxyies have been discontinued, would you suggest a current Hireko clubhead that would play similar to the Oxyies -- smiliar head weight, size, offset, etc.?
Also, what shaft -- ultra light steel or graphite -- might play similar to the Power Play Select?
Thanks for providing a great forum -- and great products!
