This looks like an interesting design. Is it a high-launch clubhead?

I notice many of the Acer and Powerplay lines have very strongs lofts. Not a problem in general, but I'm concerned about sets where the PW is 44* or 45* when gap wedges generally start at 52*. Are we going to be seeing 50* gap wedges soon?

If I use a an XK or DMC 52* wedge, will I have an unusual gap between the PW and GW?

Thanks.

The more weight positioned low in the head, the higher the launch angle will be. Therefore that is why you see the length strengthened to offset it and normalize the trajectory.

Thanks Jeff.

So, to be specific, these Ti-Ceptional are designed to blend "seamlessly" with a 52* gap wedge. I have a rather conventional cavity-back in my bag now (Wishon 752), and I get about 125 yards on a full-swing PW (loft is 48*). Should I expect the same on the Ti-Ceptional?

What is the design characteristic of the XK HT clubs? Is that simply increased loft over the base xk design?

I 2nd Jeff on this. I have a short set of Powerplay System Q2 irons (they complement a set of hybrids I have) and they are stronger lofts. The shots do not go any farther but it is much easier to to hit the ball flush with good height on the shot with them.

I actually play a 50* gap wedge as they have been available for quite some time. I am not sure if Hireko has offered any but it may be something they should look at. I have asked for lower bounce wedges as well as I play of very tight lies through the summer. I believe some of the gap wedges offered with the "sets" (of like irons) are available in 50* or 51*. Yes the Powerplay System Q2 and the Caiman irons are offered in a 50* Gap wedge. My 50* wedge actually "fills" the gap better than a 52*. My Pitching wedge goes 130 yards and a "full" 50* wedge shot goes 115. A 52* wedge shot was not much more than the 56*. I was carrying the 56* (depending on swing) 90 to 100 yds and the 52* is about 100 to 105.

I was carrying a 50, 54, and 58* wedge but learned to control a 56* so now I carry a 50* and a 56* and find this the best for me. The 50 * is low bounce and the 56* is higher bounce for deep grass and bunkers.

You may find a little more gap if using the XK or DMC wedge but I would recommend buying the matching gap wedge if it's available. I have sold several sets that way and the buyers love them. They are much easier to hit than a standard "wedge".

So, just what does this club look like? I Googled, but no results.

Gary:

They are not on-line yet, but are featured in the Fall Preview that was sent out.

The XK HT are more for those who want a premium on height as not only are they weaker lofted but have a lower center of gravity than the standard model to make sure they are indeed different clubs.

I've demoed the Q2s to a few people. They are terrific irons. Hit them myself and they seemed long compared with my usual higher lofted irons. So I'm not surprised that a 50* GW fills the gap better than a 52* . . . but I choose my personal GW to be 4* stronger than the SW (which is 4* stronger than the LW). I don't use the GW on a full swing, so I end up with a gap from the full swing PW (130) and the strongest finesse GW swing (about 105).
