Jeff,

I'm considering the new TI Ceptional irons and looking for a baseline shaft suggestion. I like the feel of graphite shafts, and like everyone else,,could use a few more yards,,but with control as well.

My average 7 iron swing speed is 73 -75 MPH,, average 138 yards,,smooth to moderate tempo, and currently have a slight fade on my 6 & 7 irons, and mid to high ball flight.

I wouldnt mind going to a light weight steel shaft for more control, but with a graphite feel.

Thanks in advance for the help.

If you are looking at a graphite feel from a weight stand point, look at the Apollo Acculite 75 or True Temper GS-75. But if the feel if from the dampening, then that won't occur with a lightweight steel shaft. A couple shafts to look at that are very light and consistent are the SK Fiber Tour Trac 80 and the Grafalloy Custom Lite as just a few to look at.

Thank you Jeff,,I think I'm leaning toward the Tour Trac 80,,given the info on my swing do I go with regular or senoir flex?

The R-flex is not overly stiff, especially by following the trimming instructions. You may want to look at what flex you are using in your driver or any other clubs. If you have an A-flex shafted club you hit well and accuracy is not an issue, you might be able to use the TT80 in A-flex.

My current iron shafts are labeled regular flex, but had them checked and it turns out they are more like A flex shafts. I've read that the Tour Trac 80 shafts play a bit soft to flex,,and according to the TT80 swing speed chart,,the regular flex TT80 is rated at 75mph swing speed, which matches my swing speed. Would the A flex TT80 be way to soft for me? Your thoughts?

My gut instinct without seeing you swing is the R-flex. You may want to install just one shaft first with the normal tip trimming before shafting the whole set.
