Currently hit an old Ping Zing with TT Lites, Regular Flex, standard lay/lie. 5 Iron swing speed of about 80mph. Was thinking of testing a 6 iron with a shaft in the $6-11 range.

Your thoughts?

Those shafts are quite a departure from what you are using. What are your goals, plus do you have problems hitting the current set up?

I'm not surprised you say that. I've had these clubs/shafts since 86. I'm thinking I have a little better control now but less swing speed. I'm looking for distance and more forgiveness from my irons. The control is generally not the fault of the clubs . My problems hitting them is nothing some practice wouldn't help but technology has improved a bit since 86.

Your thoughts on the Power Play Select 500? Price is enticing.

I guess the point is that I'm not looking for the same performance/feel. I'm a 90 golfer so I'm not 'feeling it' all that often.

I can help by giving more information:

95-100 swing speed for driver - Blue Crush Shaft Manatara Driver, Green Ghost Mantara 3W both trimed to R Flex

78 swing speed on 5 iron- TT Lites R Flex on irons, Apollo Standard Stepless R Flex on 2,4,6 System Q Hybrid.

If anything, I tend to block my irons right so a lighter shaft will not hurt?

As you might note my shaft selections are not necessarily consistent with your DSFI Recommendations.

Also, what do you think about using the standard XK for the wedge set not the Ti? $ Savings and no gap wedge in the Ti.

You do have a hodgepodge of shafts so it may not be as critical if you can't tell the difference between the Green Ghost and Blue Crush shafts. The Select 5000 is a great shaft for the money. We just had waaaay too many in inventory and thus the low cost. If the light weight doesn't cause you control problems, then it would be one way of increasing speed and distance. But of the shafts listed, the Acculite 85 may be the best transition from the TT Lites.

If you are blocking (pushing), then that very well may be a lie angle problem. A shaft that is too stiff could create the same problem, but it is hard to say without trying a few different combos in the same head. Shaft up one club first instead of the whole set.

You could also go to the standard XK in the wedges to cut down on $$$.
