Hi Jeff,
I have some general questions and understand if they can't all be answered.
Weight: should one go to a slightly heavier shaft since the thriver is going to be built to 44" rather than, say 45-45.5"
Flex: Should I use the same flex I currently use or go softer/stiffer? Curious because of the shorter length.
Bend Point: I've read in the past that high loft and high bend point shafts made the best combo. your opinion on this?
Lets say my favorite shaft is ABC in my 45.5" driver. Will shaft ABC likely work in a thriver or how should I go about selecting a shaft?
Thanks for taking your time to help out!

I would recommend choosing the shaft weight based on your tempo, not because the Thriver is shorter. On the flex, maintain your present flex but trim the shaft as if it were a 3 wood. This will offset the extra weight. The bend point isn't going to influence the trajectory as much as the loft, your angle of attack and impact position on the face. I you generally have a late release or have a tendency to pull or even hook the ball, then a higher bend point shaft would be in order. If the shaft in your ABC driver has the right weight and flex, you should be able to use that same shaft or one very similar to it in the Thriver.

Jeff,
Do you think an ultrlight shaft like the Death Stick is too light to be used in a Thriver? I'm asking because I have never hit a fairway wood length club with a shaft under 75 grams, although a few of my drivers have had 55 grams shafts. Thanks.

Please treat the Thriver like a driver since it is to be played off the tee. If you can handle a 50g shaft in a 45" driver, you should be find with it in a driver made 1" shorter.

Another Thriver shaft question...Let's say I wanted one made at 43 inches. Can that be accomplished with a graphite shaft and still come out with a maneagable swingweight, or is steel the better option at that point? If I went with the Apollo Shadow steel shaft at 43 inches, what would the swingweight come out to?

With a heavier weight shaft (above 70g) and a 5 or 6g tip you could get the swingweight toward D0. The Apollo Shadow at 43" would come close to that as well.

Thanks...one more question about a Thriver head/ shaft combo - would the swingweight spec out okay (around D0 or D1) if built with the True Ace Cadence Blue graphite at 43.5"...what about 43"?

At 44", you will be around D1 or D2, at 43.5" subtract 3 points and at 43" subtract 6 points.
