Hi i had a really stubborn steel shaft broken off at the hosel and was using the tap drill to get it out when my tap drill shattered leaving half inside the hosel does anybody know a way to get this out.

You have three options I can think of. I had this happen once and was able to remove the tap by taking it to a machine shop and I believe they used a pair of solid carbid spade drills. Be aware that this was an expensive ordeal. The other option is having the hosel cut off, tap forced back up through the hosel opening, re-welded and finished. Lastly, try to find the same head elsewhere, whether it is new or if has to be purchased used off of the internet. Good luck!!!

This has happened to me a couple of times. On the first occasion I used a combination of heat & twisting with needle nosed pliers inserted in the drill bit webs. On the second time this method failed. I ground the drill bit with a Dremel tool until I could get it out. This took several $5 grinding bits & quite a bit of time.
