Those had 0.405" tip diameter shafts with graphite and 0.395" with steel - two diameters you will not find in today's shaft. The best thing to do is use the bushing ferrule - Hireko code BFI. The stems can be hand sanded to fit in the steel-shafted model and then use standard .370" shafts. These come 4 to a package.

Jeff Summitt
Hireko Golf

The bad part is the guy wants them shortened a half inch but he wants it taken of the tip. So all I need are ferrules. I am guessing I will have to use a .370 ferrule and enlarge the hole.

Before you do anything, I would explain to the customer the problem with the odd diameters. You will not be able to save the old ferrules or be able to get replacement ferrules to use with the existing shafts.

Jeff,

I had already disassembled the clubs and trimmed the tips down. So last night I took a .370 ferrule and ran a 25/64th drill bit through it. It worked perfect.

Good work!!! It just proves there is almost always a way to get around a problem if you put your mind too it. Your customers should give you a big tip :D for the money you saved him for not having to replace the grips.

Jeff Summitt
