Shaft for Odyssey Sabertooth putter

A friend brought me an Odessey Sabertooth that appears to have been reshafted. He found it on Craigslist or Ebay or someplace like that. It wasn't feeling right to him. Just looking at it, it was obviously way too upright.

Length 35", Lie 82*. The shaft has the same characteristics as Hireko's AP460P, but it was oriented in a way that it contributed zero offset. I pulled the shaft. It's an over-the-hosel type head. The hosel stub comes out of the head at 82*.

I researched the putter model. Standard length is 35*. Standard lie is 72*. So the stock shaft must have been some proprietary bend to flatten the lie angle by 10*, or the hosel has been bent, although I see no evidence of bending and it doesn't look like it would tolerate a 10* bend. Perhaps it was originally a "long" putter, but I didn't see an option to order it that way.

So... should I flatten the current shaft 10*, or should I try an AP46CP (designed for a 90* bore) and bend it 18* more upright? Any other ideas?

Anybody have experience with this head?

Kind of a shame, if I change the orientation of this shaft I'm going to have to burn a very nice Odessey XP grip since it'll be misaligned--and I have neither the tools nor the patience to save it.

Thanks,

Ron

Hi Ron:

It requires a proprietary shaft that we do not offer. The AP46CP will only work in a 90 socket or over a 90 degree post. I am not sure how much you would be able to bend the stem, if at all. Plus putter shafts are often tough to bend that much.

Jeff Summitt
