      • I'm very happy with the XS irons I built ( Red Apollo Shafts R ,Winn Grips ) they don't need anything but a good swing. My Driver and Fairway Woods are Callaway. But they seem light compared to my irons. What's the most common weight people are using for Driver and Woods? The heavier irons slow down my tempo and swing with great results. Sure would like to duplicate that swing weight in my Callaway FT's. Love your products and will be building Driver and woods after I build my XS wedges.
        Thanks ,Luke
      • Luke,

It is likely not a swingweight issue, but an overall weight issue that is the problem. To check, weigh your woods and irons. You can always add lead tape to the heads to see if that helps. If not, you can always removed it.

The most common weights for drivers are becoming mid 50's to mid 60's, while fairway woods are generally 5-10 grams higher. This is not to say this is right for everyone because manufacturers are in the business of selling people what they want - distance and not necessarily accuracy. If the clubs feel too light and you do not want to re-shaft with a heavier model, then you don't want the Tour Lock Counterweights. There is a different product from them called the Tour Lock Opti-Vibe. This will increase the overall weight and may or may not change swingweight depending upon how far down the shaft you insert it.

        Thanks for the kind words.

      • will these counter weights fit both steel and graphite shafts.
      • Jim,

Yes they will. There is a hex at the top you tighten like an anchor bolt.

      • Hello,
Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me what the butt end material will be made from... aluminum or stainless (black colored?)? I am wondering where the majority of the weight will be and the durability of a stainless butt end cap. If the butt end cap is stainless, then the weight will be more toward the end of the grip and durability of the cap could withstand constant banging around in the bag. If it's aluminum, then the brass weight will have to be made longer and the weight will move more towards the head of the club, plus aluminum being soft would deform more quickly, not to mention become quite ugly over a shorter time! A small niggle but something I'm concerned about.

      • The piece you are referring to (black vs. silver) is an aluminum cap - I held a magnet to it and it did not stick. The majority of the weight is the brass or copper sleeve that is located between the aluminum cap and the rubber piece below. Again, there has been no change to the weights themselves as it is only cosmetic. The black is an anodized finish.

I wanted to know if you have several versions of the Tour Lock Pro Counterweight. Golfsmith sells a version (?) that is black, while on your site the photo looks like its just plain stainless steel. Golfsmith link...

Is the one sold on Golfsmith and "older" version. The cap looks to be anodized aluminum with a large brass weight. Is the cap portion in fact aluminum or is it stainless?

I want to order a few weights, but I'm confused as to what exactly I'll be getting. Will your 40 gram weights look like what's represented on Golfsmith, or will the weight look like the photo on your site (stainless steel cap)? Do you have actual photos on your website of all the weights so I can see what they all actually look like? Maybe a brochure?

Very confusing from a consumer's standpoint!

        Thank you!
      • Dear customer,

The butt end is getting a make over with the newer version being black instead of the stainless steel. We are still running through some of our older inventory first, but their function is exactly the same.

      • Does the locking mechanism use a standard allen wrench or do I need to buy the wrench along with the weight kit?
      • Jeff,

It is a 3/16" Allen key. If you don't have one in your collection, you are better off picking one up at the same time to avoid multiple shipping fees.
