How does this compare to the XV series?
Question by: Bob W on Aug 16, 2022, 6:11 PM
Bob,

The shape is the same, but this is an improved clubhead series. By adding the cup face structure, it provide more performance over a wider area of the face.

Question by: Jim Hoover on Aug 23, 2022, 6:38 AM
We did not submit it to the USGA for a formal ruling, but we designed this to be conforming for CT/COR, volume, MOI, etc.

Is the bottom of the hosel into the head open or closed?
Question by: Rob Halford on Aug 23, 2022, 7:17 AM
Rob,

There is a stop at the bottom of the hosel to prevent epoxy from flowing inside the head and potentially causing a rattle.

I plan to pair this head with the apollo shadow UL shaft. The recommended tip trim calls for 2". Can I leave it untrimmed or maybe trim only 1"? How would the affect the performance? I am 84 and don't swing the club very fast, I would sly I have a slow tempo. I would say I'm about a 22 to 25 handicap player on a regular course. I play mostly on our executive course which has a 62 par for 18 holes and I have a 16 handicap there.
Question by: George DeVinna on Oct 1, 2022, 11:54 AM
George,

The less you tip trim, the more flexible the shaft will become. Ladies flex would call for 1" tip trimming. If you elected to butt trim only, then the shaft will be even more flexible than standard Ladies flex.

Do I need a ferrule with the SR1 driver and 3 wood?
Question by: Mike Scholes on Aug 19, 2023, 4:37 AM
Yes, these clubs were designed to have a ferrule to provide a smooth transition from the top of the hosel to the shaft.

The hosel depth of this driver for installing the shaft appears to be almost two inches. Will this affect the flex of the shaft to make it stiffer or the launch characteristic to make it lower? Thanks
Question by: Rob on Sep 28, 2023, 1:15 PM
The insertion depth of the hosel down to where the stop (or ridge) is 38mm or 1.5" on this model. This would be considered normal on a modern driver. However, as a general answer to your question is it would make the shaft stiffer with a deeper insertion depth and a reduced bottom of bore to ground line measurement and subsequently launch the ball lower as a result.
