Product Questions

What are trimming instructions for this steel shaft. Spectre Lite. ?
Question by: Don Squires on Dec 4, 2012, 2:30 PM
Don:

For the woods, use trim chart W1 (L or R-flex), W2 (A-flex) or W3 (S-flex). For irons, use trim chart IH18 (L or R-flex), IH20 (A-flex) or IH21 (S-flex).

Whats the dsfi rating for this shaft in stiff iron?
Question by: chester on Mar 17, 2013, 1:40 PM
Chester,

For S-flex, the DSFI rating is 78. For the complete listings, they can be found here: http://www.hirekogolf.com/index.php/dynamic-shaft-fitting-addendum

It will be the book at the bottom of the link in Chapter 2.

These aren't available in R/S flex? For woods?
What would be closer to R flex, A or L flex? Trim W1 or W2?
Tks
Question by: Robert on Sep 5, 2014, 4:14 AM
Robert,

Steel wood shafts are basically obsolete in today's market. So when an item runs out, it is not reordered. A flex is closer to R than L-flex. There is plenty of parallel tip section to trim more or basically take everything off of the tip to your desired length.
Answer by: Richard Lin on Sep 6, 2014, 4:09 AM
Don: it's not you!.the old website had easy access to trim codes.this new, worthless site makes it near impossible to get the info you need.I've been looking myself and had to go to another companies site to get my info.
Note to hireko: make it possible to easily access your trim codes.it can't be hard.

Answer by: Richard Lin on Dec 8, 2012, 8:12 PM
what is DSFI? I am used to rating shafts based on their RSSR (Recommended Swing Speed Ratio) to assess what flex is required.....is DSFI similar or ?.
Question by: ANDREW BORBAS on Apr 22, 2014, 8:18 PM
Andrew:

DSFI is short for the Dynamic Shaft Fitting Index. This is the original and most trusted method of suggesting shafts based on their cut data and then relating that to swing speeds. More can be found on this at the following link:
http://www.hirekogolf.com/dynamic-shaft-fitting-addendum

There are two books explaining it. The bottom book is where all the data is located. Please pay close attention to chapters 1, 2 and 5.

Is it possible to extra tip trim An AL flex in the Shadow or Spectre shafts to achieve a stiffer flex while achieving a lighter shaft with the AL flex shafts?
Question by: D Charneskey on Jan 10, 2015, 6:36 PM
It will require 2" additional tip trimming over the A-flex to achieve one full flex stiffer. You will find once the iron shafts are cut that much you will end up probably shorter than standard lengths. The Spectre Lite shaft in A flex is a pretty stiff shaft to begin with, especially compared to the more flexible Shadow. So it may not require much more tipping of the Spectre Lite iron shaft. If you are looking the Spectre Lite wood, those don't run as proportionately stiffer like the iron shafts do.
Answer by: Richard Lin on Jan 11, 2015, 6:01 PM
How much would you suggest trimming the A flex to resemble an R flex equivalent?
Question by: Joe on Jun 1, 2015, 5:33 PM
Joe,

You will find that the Apollo Spectre Lite runs already stiffer than just about any shaft in it's weight classification. However if you are trying to increase the stiffness by a whole flex (10 cpm), then it would require cutting an additional 2" off of the tip. This may end up making the shaft shorter than needed without using a shaft extender.
Answer by: Richard Lin on Jun 2, 2015, 5:06 PM
I think I have some R/S Spectre .335 wood shafts. The butt label is APMSPW-47SR. Is that what they are? Thanks.
Question by: Don M on Mar 22, 2016, 3:18 PM
Don,

You indeed have the R&S combination version of the Spectre wood shaft.
Answer by: Richard Lin on Mar 23, 2016, 3:03 PM
I'm stuck between these, the Phantoms, or maybe FST pro 115. I've been using the Apollo stepless the last 10 years and like them, just want something a little lighter. I have a pretty fast, average to slightly aggressive swing.
Question by: Aaron K on Aug 5, 2024, 4:33 PM
Hi Aaron,

If you have an aggressive swing, your best bet for a shaft that will weight in the 90 gram range (mid iron) would be the Spectre Lite. It by far has the highest frequency. The FST Pro 115 will be more flexible than what you are playing, but have a relatively stiff tip section. The Phantom is more for someone with a smoother swing.
Answer by: Jeff Summitt (Admin) on Aug 6, 2024, 5:41 AM
Hello,
1. When do you hope to get these shafts again?
2. How does this shaft, playability wise to DG105? They seem very close spec wise.
Question by: Rob on Nov 24, 2021, 8:33 AM
We are expecting these to arrive any day. With the glut of containers are the port, we cannot give a firm date on when they will be released and arrive at our dock. As far as how they perform compared to the DG105, we cannot provide that information since we have not shafted those up or ran them on our EI shaft profiler to compare to the Spectre Lite.
