Look to simplify your iron game with the Pinhawk Vertex. Not completely single length, and not traditional length. Instead, these have two different lengths: the 3, 4 and 5 irons are one length, and the 6-iron through wedges are another. This configuration results in no distance loss in the long irons and the full benefits of single length irons in the “short” set (6-SW). 2 different lengths, and just 2 swing planes, vs many planes in a traditional set.

The 3 and 6 iron use a new iron technology necessary for correct distance gapping across the entire set. First, they have an ultra-thin, high strength cup face to help increase ball speed and maximize distance. The weight saved by the thinner face is positioned to allow for an optimal launch angle. This is a hollow bodied design that provides unparalleled forgiveness and distance.

The suggested men’s length for the Pinhawk Vertex is 38" (for the 3, 4 and 5 irons) and 36.5", which are a typical 5 and 8 iron lengths respectively. Note that Pinhawk is a trademarked line of golf clubs not designed by Hireko Golf. Conforms to the Rules of Golf.

Product Questions

What is the material of the head? Is it soft iron or stainless steel?
Question by: Tseng wen yen on Sep 24, 2020, 5:34 AM
The #3 and #6 are the hollow-bodied irons in the set which are made of 17-4 stainless. This is one of the harder steels used. The rest are 431 stainless steel which is in the middle of the range for a steel iron head.
Answer by: Jeff Summitt on Oct 8, 2020, 11:03 AM
What is the recommended shaft for these heads? Thanks!
Question by: Brent Anderson on Sep 24, 2020, 3:57 PM
There isn't one because the shaft should be more based on your requirements / preferences for shaft weight, flex and ball flight. I would look at the shafts you have had success with recently and use that same shaft or one very similar to it.
Answer by: Jeff Summitt on Oct 8, 2020, 11:10 AM
I notice that the lie for the heads is 63.5. But most 8 irons and clubs at 36.5 inches are 62.5 or lower lie. Why is the lie so high?
Thanks
Question by: Dave Marshall on Oct 29, 2020, 5:28 PM
Dave, the majority of our game-improvement irons in our line are 63 or 63.5 degrees which is the modern spec.

Can the Vertex #6, #7 and #8 be bent to 62 degrees?
Question by: Michael Matei on Nov 8, 2020, 9:39 AM
Hi Michael,

These can be bent a maximum of 2 degrees from the published specifications. If you want us to do so before shipping, then we only bend 1 or 2 degrees upright or flat.
Answer by: Jeff Summitt on Nov 9, 2020, 5:39 AM
Are these iron heads adjustable, Loft/Lie?
I find all are weak in my set, 6-pw . . .
I assume these are cast irons? hard to adjust . . .
Question by: Ed McGreehan on Nov 8, 2020, 1:28 PM
Hi Ed,

The #3 and 6 are 17-4 stainless steel and the rest are 431 stainless. They are adjustable up to 2 degrees from the published specs. The #3 and 6 will be tougher to bend than the others.
Answer by: Jeff Summitt on Nov 9, 2020, 5:46 AM
are the shafts just cut to the flex that is required for that head and then trimmed to length from the butt end?
Question by: armando Garcia on Jan 9, 2023, 9:59 AM
For the Pinhawk Vertex 3, 4 and 5-irons, you will tip trim the shafts as if each one is a 5-iron and then cut to the length from the butt end to a 5-iron. For the remaining irons and wedges, you will tip trim the shafts as if each one is a 8-iron and then cut to the length from the butt end to a 8-iron.
Answer by: Jeff Summitt on Jan 9, 2023, 10:48 AM
Is there an ideal swingweight? I know every player is different with feel but with some players like feeling the head in the swing. I am making a set for a friend and swing speed really needs senior flex but my set have acer shafts and their D0.
Question by: KEN MACKAY on Jun 12, 2021, 12:35 AM
There probably is an ideal swingweight for each individual based on the components selected and the length, but not for a head in general. You would have to assembly one club first (or have a demo) and then start playing around with lead tape on the head or counterweights in the butt to see if any improvement occurs. If so, then you would repeat on all other like clubs in the set.

Graphite or steel 8 - 5 iron?
Question by: JOHN STARR on Jul 9, 2021, 7:50 AM
That is more of a personal preference. Graphite shafts in general are lighter and typically assembled slightly longer (1/2") to help increase speed and distance. A heavier shaft is more for control.
Answer by: Jeff Summitt on Jul 9, 2021, 7:58 AM
what is the required shaft tip diameter for the Pinhawk heads?
Question by: TIM DEAN on Dec 1, 2020, 4:07 PM
Tim,

These are designed for 0.370" parallel tip shafts.

I put together a 6 iron with the light steel shaft. For me it is so easy to hit.
