The Acer XV is a versatile and technologically enhanced driver series available in a variety of lofts to suit players of all skill levels. The classic appearance has a lot of functionality from the addition of the Power Chamber sole, Gravity Port and CNC milled crown. The Power Chamber sole enhances energy transfer to the ball while the Gravity Port allows for fine-tuning of swingweight for different shaft weights and balance points and custom assembly lengths. The Acer XV drivers feature our lightest all-titanium crown ever. It goes through a CNC milling process to remove excessive reduce weight than can be repositioned strategically within the head for optimal performance. Stock screw is 7 grams and requires 4mm Allen wrench

Product Questions

interesting,..just played with my new xf #4wood,nice.....accuracy and good distance .so i'm ordering the new xv driver, and thriver, to replace my good XDS's. why are all the XV drivers "one degree closed" and only one driver, flat ?
Question by: joseph stumpf on Apr 24, 2015, 2:24 PM
Joseph,

Most drivers are set at 1 degree closed due to it's size to enable it to square up at impact. The exceptions would be ones designed for stronger golfers (lower lofts) and any head with internal weighting in the heel (like the XDS Insider or React) to help close the head more rapidly.
Answer by: Richard Lin on Apr 25, 2015, 2:04 PM
I have some technical questions: When increasing or decreasing the head weight to either reduce or extend the final club length, do you need to adjust the tip trim in order to optimize the proper shaft flex? In other words, does increasing weight require more tip trim? Also, does the change in weight in the gravity port affect the spin rate of the golf ball? For example, does increasing the weight to 12 grams increase the spin rate? Thanks.
Question by: Jeffrey Lowmaster on Mar 17, 2015, 4:13 AM
Jeffrey,

In most cases for a driver there is no tip trimming so you won't be able to take less to accommodate the lighter option. With the 12g weight, you are at the weight of a 2-wood. In this situation you can trim more to offset the additional weight. But if you didn't, generally that amount is 1/4" to at most 1/2" which would make the frequency 1-3 cpm less. For most golfers, this small amount would not be able to be felt. However, being more flexible could increase the launch angle and spin ever so slightly.

For your last question about spin, that is a tricky answer because it will depend upon where you make impact on the clubface. If you make contact higher than the center of percussion, then you could see a decrease in spin where as low on the face would cause more spin.

Okay Jeff, one more question: To take advantage of the power chamber sole, does one have to tee the ball lower? I normally tee the ball whereas half the ball is above the crown. Will the power chamber still be as affective with the ball teed high? Thanks.
Question by: Jeffrey Lowmaster on Mar 25, 2015, 6:45 AM
Hi Jeff,

Not really. Hitting above the center of the face on a club is usually optimum anyway as the ball will be at or above the center of percussion of the clubhead. Where distance is lost is lower on the face and that is where the Power Chamber can aid in getting back some of that lost distance. Remember, tee it high, let it fly!

How does this head compare with the PowerPlay Caiman X2 driver head as far as performance?
Question by: Bob Woodrick on Aug 10, 2015, 10:21 AM
Bob,

There is no comparison - the Acer XV is a better all-around driver in all phases from performance to sound.

good morning, i found a shaft and am looking to build a driver. looking at a higher lofted driver. i am looking at the vx or the xs. thoughts? thanks, andy
Question by: andy hilbun on Nov 21, 2016, 8:15 AM
Andy,

Both are very good drivers. The Acer XV is the newer of the two and allows for customization of weight / length due to the gravity port. The XV is also available in a 14º loft if you are looking for an even higher loft and not the XS Thriver which is a specialty control driver that is designed heavier.
Answer by: Richard Lin on Nov 22, 2016, 8:11 AM
Is it possible to hand select for loft or weight when ordering this club head? I would like to make sure the 10.5 driver's loft is not below 10.5, and the weight not below 199 grams. Also, what is loft and weight manufacturing tolerance?
Question by: Adam Gennett on Jun 29, 2017, 12:58 PM
Adam,

First, our tolerances for loft, lie and face angle on this product is +/- 1º, while weight is +/-3 grams. However, we don't have the resources to hand-pick for certain specifications and still get all the orders out on a timely basis so we don't offer that service.

is driver face beta
Question by: Chris on Aug 9, 2016, 12:14 PM
Chris,

It is a 6-4 face. There was no need to resort to beta titanium as the COR/CT is at the USGA limit.

I purchased one of the Acer XV 9.5 Driver heads several years ago, and put the Areotech, powercoil 65 (S) shaft in it. I was never very consistent with it, so it sat in my closet for quite a long time... recently, after playing with a 13 degree mini driver, I experimented with the Acer XV Driver by cutting the shaft down to the length of my 3 wood... to my surprise... my drives are as long as they have ever been, and more importantly, much more consistent. My question is... I've always thought that the weight port at the rear of the driver head was not really functional... however, after doing some research on your website, I realized that the weight actually can be removed and replaced with one of a different gram weight... please explain what difference I might find (if any?) with a different gram weight installed? Thank you!
Question by: Daniel Backus on Nov 15, 2020, 12:37 PM
Daniel,

Since you went to a shorter length, you could opt for the 12g screw rather than the stock 7g screw that came with the head. This would increase the swingweight by 3 points and make the club slightly more flexible. Ball flight might be a little higher as well.

When is the expected date for the 9.5 degree XV Driver ?
Question by: Matthew Staggs on Dec 7, 2020, 3:08 PM
Matthew,

They are on the water now so they should be arriving in about 2 weeks.
