How to Turn Ferrules with a Belt Sander

Increase the proficiency of your clubmaking operation by turning ferrules by machine.

Hireko Golf’s technical director Jeff Summitt will explain the procedure and some tips to turning ferrules. Make sure to practice on older clubs first before jumping right into it so you get your own feel and technique that works best for you. Plus, never try to turn a ferrule against the flat platen or the small metal bar behind the belt. Some of the things you will need are as follows:

The Ferrule Block

Items you may need

1" x 42" belt sander
(don't try using a 1" x 30" belt sander)
Ferrule turning arm or fixture (optional)  
Ferrule turning beltFerrule dressing belt
