Questions on Apollo Standard Stepless Steel Golf Shafts

    • From Dave Keefe at 3/28/2016 7:30 AM
      • How would you compare Apollo Stepless R to Dynamic R300 for cut weight - ball flight- tip stiffness

Looking for heavy weight steel similar to R300

Seem close using DFSI info - but would play Apollo 5I at 37.5" - same as as R300

      • Dave,

From a weight and frequency standpoint, the two shafts (in parallel tip R-flex) are comparable. The Dynamic Gold will be a little stiffer in the tip launching the ball slightly lower of the two shafts, but it won't be a night and day difference.

      • Hey how is it going? I recently purchased these shafts to put in in my driver and 5,7,9,11 super concord woods. I play x100 in my irons and was wonder if I could tip these an extra inch to get them to play a little stiffer? I will be playing the driver at 43 inches and the rest of the lengths with be cut accordingly. I love your stuff and your site. Thanks
      • Jason,

There is 10.5" of parallel tip length, so there will be plenty of length to tip trim extra and you should have ample length left over to achieve standard lengths. Make sure to weigh the heads and trim them according to the tip trim tables based on their weight (plus you extra 1" to stiffen them up).

      • Will you be getting the Apollo Hump shafts back in the future?
      • Mike,

I am afraid you won't see these coming back anytime soon.

      • Hi,
I tested my buddy's Mizuno MP52's with a Project x Rifle shaft that he called "Regular+" and they felt very good, would this shaft be similar if trimmed to Firm-regular? (or what do you recommend?)

      • Fredrik,

The R+ can be considered as a "firm" flex. However, it is important to realize there are no standards for flex meaning that firm flex may be a stiff flex in another shaft or brand. Usually a Project X or Rifle shaft will have a flex of 5.5, 6.0, 6.5 etc. Did this shaft have such a marking on the label?

      • I think it it said 5.5 on the label
      • Fredrik,

OK, 5.0 should be the R+ where as 5.5 would have been S flex. If you are trying to match the frequency (flex) with the Apollo Standard Stepless, cut half-way between the R and S flex and it will be very close. Note, not all shafts will work out the same as there is no industry standard for flex.
